“Let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is…fear itself,” was proclaimed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt during his first inauguration address way back in 1933. This Saturday, while speaking in Malaysia, President Obama added, “Overcoming Fear is our ‘Most Powerful Tool’ to Fight ISIS.

As I watched the show last night, I was reminded of Ellen DeGeneres opening the post 9/11 Emmy Award’s with her line, “What would upset the Taliban more than a gay woman wearing a suit in front of a room full of Jews?” Only last night, the fuck you began with a treble clef and was executed in musical notes.

With Paris struggling to reclaim day-to-day life and the city of Brussels on a total lock down, last night the American Music Awards sent a provocative message of the power, hope, and the sheer the magic of music to inspire, motivate and overcome.

J-Lo opened the show …

Harrison Ford introduced A Cappella group “Pentatonix” and their amazing Star Wars mash-up

Walk the Moon made us tap our toes …

And Celine made us cry …

A complete list of the winners of the American Music Awards 2015 can be found here while the music, magic and resilience demonstrated last night made the world’s good guys the real winners. Today, we fight anew.

Isis, just in case you missed the message …
