Sister Roma Is a Giant Athletic Supporter
The #WeAreGiants campaign from the San Francisco Giants is big on team pride on twitter. So is Sister Roma, the most photographed nun in the world.
That comes as no surprise coming from a team that was big on #LGBT pride long before it was even remotely mainstream. They celebrated marriage equality right along with us.
The #WeAreGiants isn’t just about tweets, but about their fans that show up to support the team. For the lucky revelers with outstanding media that gets noticed by the Giant’s media team, they are shown on the Jumbotron in the AT&T Park Stadium live during the games and posted to their Facebook page after.
At last night’s game, the pride of the San Francisco Giants met the pride of San Francisco: our very own Sister Roma and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
With 4,324 Likes and 163,072 views already, it’s gratifying to see such a show of support and acceptance for Sister Roma and all of the Sisters of Perpetual Inductance coming from not just the Giants, and not just the LGBT community, but from around the big blue marble!
In San Francisco we celebrate diversity. Our people and our communities are just as beautiful and special as our skyline, hills and bridges. As a 28-year member of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Inc. I’ve devoted more than half my life to community service and activism. The Sisters started here in SF and have been on the front lines of the war against HIV/AIDS and raised millions of dollars for charity. I am proud of my Sisters, proud of my City and proud of my GIANTS! Thank you for the honor of being included in your campaign. #WeAreSF #WeAreColorful #WeAreGiant ~Sister Roma
