Inside For The James Franco, Zachary Quinto, Charlie Carver 3Way

Now that “I Am Michael” has made it to VOD, the promised Franco-Quinto-Carver arrives along with it. Now we can decide for ourselves: does it live up to the sexy hype?

A quick refresher. “I Am Michael” is the true story of Michael Glatze (James Franco) who as a young man edited Young Gay America magazine. He lived with his boyfriend (Zachary Quinto) in San Francisco. In later life, Michael renounced his homosexuality, married a woman (Emma Roberts), and became a mouthpiece (pun intended) for the post-gay Christian right.

Not surprisingly, there was a lot of buzz about the three-way. After all, “I Am Michael” was directed by Justin Kelly who directed another mainstream movie we have discussed here, “King Cobra.”

Equally not surprising, Franco, Quinto, Carver do indeed tumble into bed together.

They kiss, they get down to their skivvies. What else they get down to is more in our imagination than on the screen. Titillating? Perhaps. But as opposed to getting you off, it’s more likely to get you in the mood for viewing a real gay porn three-way where the “porn” is on the screen, not implied.

Someday there may be a true convergence of the mainstream and the gay blue screen that bridges the gap between “I Am Michael” and the much more provocative and explicit gay indie films selected for NakedSword Film Works.
We’ll see if the sex scenes from “Beach Rats” live up to their hype this fall.
