Just in time for both the holidays and to help a worthy cause, the unsold items from the Rentboy Office’s Liquidation Sale are up for auction on eBay. There are some really cool items there including the famous Rentboy neon signs:

Former CEO Jeffrey Hurant and the Rentboy Seven are facing a substantial financial burden preparing a defense — especially when all of their assets have been confiscated. The proceeds from the auction will be going to the Rentboy Defense Fund. Please see the original post below for more detailed information on this important case for personal freedoms.

Amid the pre-Halloween hoopla last week were two small items about a story that is still big: the Rentboy Raid. On Tuesday, there was the announcement of sales of the contents of the former Rentboy office in New York. Friday, we heard directly from the man with potentially the most to lose, former CEO Jeffrey Hurant. Jeffrey’s message, like the proceeds from the office sale, are all to shore up the Rentboy Fund, to provide a legal defense for the Rentboy Seven whom the government has seized all of their assets.

Daily Dot reporter Mary Emily O’Hara attended the sale last Saturday and filed this report:

I asked Hurant which items at the sale were his favorites, and he instantly pointed me to a pair of neon light boxes: “We made them ourselves in house. The dirtier one is my favorite.” attended the sale where she caught up briefly with Jeffrey Hurant and filed this report.

Hurant looked relatively at ease for a man who, along with six other Rentboy employees, was recently charged with conspiracy to promote prostitution across interstate lines. He immediately said that he couldn’t talk about the case, which is still open, but explained that the sale was part of a fundraising effort to cover approximately $250,000 in legal fees. A crowdfunding site had already raised around $10,000 by Monday, and the office liquidation sale was designed to beef up the legal fund.

“Nobody responded on Craigslist,” said Hurant. “It was supposed to just be low key and quiet. I didn’t think I would make it into a party, and I wasn’t sure that the world wanted our ephemera. What I discovered is that people are just coming in and wanting a piece of history.”

I asked Hurant which items at the sale were his favorites, and he instantly pointed me to a pair of neon light boxes: “We made them ourselves in house. The dirtier one is my favorite.”

“At the end of every sale, I just drink,” said Hurant with an air of nonchalance to the point of maybe giving up altogether. “I’m OK, though. My spirits are high. Things happen.”

I’m glad to see Jeffrey still has his game face on as this is no laughing matter.

Although I have covered the Rentboy Raid extensively here at GayPornBlog, the actual reason why the government put Rentboy in their cross hairs remains a mystery. One thing I am sure of, it still feels just a a bad.
