Various Miami press outlets are reporting that Hollywood Police Department has placed Michael Verdugo on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation, presumably due to the revelation that he was in gay porn.

Verdugo offered the following comment to WPLG Miami through his attorney: “My client has done nothing wrong. He has served the community of Hollywood with honor and distinction for over 10 years. The only reason someone would criticize my client is that he publicly has a different lifestyle.”

Hollywood Police Department refuses to comment on whether being in a sex tape is a violation of police policy until the investigation is over.

It seems strange that you could be fired from your job even though you did a porn like 10 years ago. Is that even legal?

I can’t say I feel bad for him — he’s one of those types who obviously really desperate for attention. He did porn AND was on reality TV. Its not like he was forced to do either of those things and he should have known that being on TV people would scrutinize his life.

Life is all about choices. I don’t know what was first, his porn gig or his police career, either way he should have known better. I just can’t get myself to feel sorry for him.

I think some of you are missing something of the bigger picture here. This guy is being persecuted for doing gay porn. Is it actually ANY employers business to know this as long as the person performs his or her job well? Would he have been suspended if he had been in straight porn? Wake up people – your civil rights and right to privacy are systematically being dismantled.

Before you start throwing stones at this guy, maybe you ought to consider that if things continue moving in this direction that it will not be long before you can be suspended from your job for visiting this website at home. Do not kid yourselves into thinking that it not a possibility.

If you do not realize this and think this guy had it coming then you are ignorant as well as hypocrite.

I can only hope that the ACLU with jump on this post haste.

The Police Department may have him on the ethical behavior clause that many city and state employees sign upon hiring. Whether you like it or not it is a major clause that many people sign in the positive and then this happens which equals negative.

Yes, it is a shame however as someone already said, he did porn and with the internet nothing ever dies. This is a time and space where people are ACTIVELY looking for something anything in the past of someone else. The gay media has played a MAJOR part in this development. The comparing of tattos, the resurgance of the video box cover across the web etc. But I wouls not blame them for it because it sa les whatever and boost whatever validity of an individual who discovers it. He made his money “then” and someone is making their money “now”.

I also agree that for 10 years he was “invisible” launching yourself on a network that the gays love on a venue (Design Star) that the gays love for the eye candy factor (all of which he played up BIG TIME) with discernable and visible trandmark etchings was “not the sharpest” move.

We are in America and it is a SPORT to blindside someone especially now with the internet. However I restate: “you did it and you have to deal with it no matter how it returns to the surface.”

There are countless numbers of young men who are going to be affected by their decision to do porn especially sites that promote the farce “straight men”. These young men have no rights after they have signed it and the money that you have earned will not sustain you forever actually past a few years.

Is there any reason for the spiraling out of control, drug use and suicide of many porn actors: they find themselves trapped, what started as something fun to do, make a little money, get laid, become a star of sorts is now a prison with few options.

Hmmm, as I close this maybe he will sue the Police Department and get paid a hefty sum or at least his retirement package (just to make it all go away( that has been accured and then move on to something else. I am sure with his new found attention there are numerous gay men who are willing to pay BIG MONEY to be with him in any capacity. It is a clever marketing scheme especially with him being in Miami, hell the cash he could pocket tax free alone from those gay men (young and old) who want to touch a “star”. I say get as much money as possible. Hmmm, he could easily charge $200.00-$300.00 per hour for “whatever” while his “star is burning” again.

Please do not say that no one will pay it because they will period!

Ah, the motivations of a “complete stranger” that we are allowed to look at but know absolutely nothing about is an ever elusive creature.

So, you guys at GPB must be all atingle that your big news scoop on Mikey V’s torrid past has gotten such legs and become made the jump into the main stream media. Very impressive. We appreciate your tireless efforts to make sure that we’re always up to date on important stories like the fact that a guy with a distinguished career as a cop who’s apparently trying to establish a new, less lethal career did an S&M movie over a dozen years ago. I know that my life would have been less fulfilling without that little tidbit.

Just because the internets allow you to scream from the rooftops regarding every youthful indiscretion made by every D to Z List pseudocelebrity in the world, doesn’t mean you should. Yeah, his actions have consequences. So do yours.

I certainly agree with people who are finding fault with GayPornBlog.com. “Outing” someone’s past like this by posting his real name is despicable. My question for the owners of this site:

Where do you draw the line? Why not just post the real names and locations of current porn actors? After all, you’ve effectively destroyed this guys’ life; why not continue your spree?

When I first saw the story about him being in gay porn, I immediately thought to myself, “Well, there goes the end of his police career.” The police force and armed services, alike, are notorious for being very homophobic atmospheres. If he had been in videos where he’s having sex with women, I can almost guarantee that this wouldn’t be a problem right now.

The interesting part is that his attorney NEVER denies it is his client in the film. He only comments that he should be judged on his police work. What are the chances of you having a twin somewhere but also having the exact tattoos in the exact same places?
Gay people always want to be treated equal. In this case, if this guy loses his job because of his porn past, does that not make him treated equal to the other gay, straight, men, and women cops that also lost their jobs for issues like this?
While I agree he should be judged on his performance, police work hard on their reputations. Where could you draw the line?

I believe you boys are forgetting something quite important… This is a blog about GAY PORN!!!! It should not be a surprise to anyone including those leaving comments on these blog entries, that there would be a story relating to a television reality star being found in a gay porn video. It just happens to be this guy, and they just so happen to follow up on this guy to let their readers know what the hell is going on. So please don’t feel obligated to be upset or offended by what this blog reports, since you should expect it as soon as you type the web address into your browser.

Furthermore, if you boys are so busy turning your backs on this guy, saying he had it coming, then don’t be surprised when no one’s there to support you when your civil rights are being violated. I mean really, can’t we all just get the fuck along for once? Its life, its supposed to be messy, just deal with it and enjoy each others company.

Oh, and one last thing… PLEASE!!! Spell check your damn posts and only click the post button once! It hard to read a comment when there are so many errors! That’s all. Have a nice day!

Anyone who does porn has to know that it will follow them forever. 50 years from now their footage will be on a complimation reel. It never goes away.

If you are fine with that then party on.

If someone on a TV show is in gay porn that is news. I don’t blame this site for exposing it.

Most of us think of blogging as a nice recreation… and interesting way to pass on funny, goofy, and interesting tidbits to people. But I’ve had my own experience with leaking news. I had to remove a few blog posts regarding an individual when his family stumbled across it and threatened him.

Sadly, your past is never allowed to be your past. No matter how good of a person you are, it’s the little things that people nitpick. He could be a wonderful cop, but they’ll throw that all out the window. You would think he had been a drug dealer or something with all this nonsense.

Knowing all the controversial news that has come from Florida over the past year, I wonder if the outcome would’ve been different had it been straight porn. Then again, maybe not…

Life. Liberty. The pursuit of happiness. They’re all myths.

Anyway this is fucked up because he may have simply either wanted to fulfill a fantasy or needed the money and he is placed under scrutiny for simply being in a porn flick from 10 years ago? I doubt it would be that big of a deal if it was straight porn.

If there is no policy stating he couldn’t film porn videos while in the force or her did it before…I would sue the fuck out of those assholes.

I’m sure we all have done things in our past we aren’t too proud of. He’s making a break for a new life. He’s talented and attractive. I remember an individual who was cast off from her crown Vanessa Williams. Look at the woman today…she even perfomed at the Kennedy Honors! Mikey, I wish you all the best. What you did 10 years ago must have been right for you then for the money. Either way, you look great on video. Otherwise, these people on here judging you aren’t all holy themselves. As a gay S Florida resident, I find it sad that we may lose a good law enforcement officer over this. We need all of the help we can get down here. However, we do not know why he’s under investigation. The article talks about his open lifestyle. If he’s a club-goer who does recreational drugs that affect his job performance, he should be disciplined. A porn past, maybe not unless he used city equipment on the shoot …

The guy did porn, this is a gay porn blog, they did an entry on it. Simple as that. You don’t want that to ever happen to you, DON’T DO PORN. It is really that simple. This is not a gay rights issue; had he been found doing straigh porn, he would have been fired too. Does the fact that your employer can fire you over your private sexual pracices suck??Maybe, but then fight your employer, do not put blame on the messenger.

How did this blog ruin anyone’s life?So what you say is people should be able to do porn, sign morality clauses, not ever mentioning and then go on national tv, without anyone ever saying anything about their porn past?If doing porn is not something to be ashamed of(which I totally agree)then you should have the balls to not deny your past, but don’t expect others to do it for you. You had the balls to do bondage on camera, then become a cop against their morality policy, then go on reality TV, now have the balls to fight for your rights too. But don’t blame others for not convering up for you.

While I do enjoy Vanessa Williams her story still unfolded as part of a magazine which straight men read so it is different, but I understand where you were going.

The real issue here is homophobia. Let us not stone GPB for the story and toss the baby out with the bathwater.

We should be upset that people are not allowed to protect and serve out in the open. Let’s keep the focus on the important aspect.

Was he wrong to pose in gay porn? No. Or chase fame on cable TV reality home improvement shows? No. Are the Broward County community standards for it’s police force hypocritical? Probably, considering the city in question. Was gaypornblog wrong to expose this little wrinkle in time? Not at all. My opinion.

Is it “wrong” to do gay porn… I have no idea, but I like to watch it. I do know that an awful lot of people have strong opinions about it., and we would be foolish to believe that just because we live in a “free” country that we are entitled to live our lives free of judgment. Being a porn actor will never be as accepted as being an accountant. Gay or Straight, do we seriously believe that being in a bondage video is compatible with a career in law enforcement? Is Verdugo’s partner and coworkers supposed to accommodate this as part of their daily routine? If this goes to court, the answer is going to be no.

Verdugo had so many opportunities to erase what he knew could come back to haunt him. The bondage video, the telltale tattoos, the reality show, shirtless scenes exposing the tattoos on national TV… all dumb. With everything I’ve read about this guy, he just seems like he feeds off drama. As gay men, we don’t need to always embrace all gay men who do dumb things. We need to stop making excuses for bad judgment. Maybe if he were hotter…
