Kurt Goes Wild … Gets Fired

I met Kurt Wild briefly on the set of Buckshot’s The Brotherhood a few years where I noted two things: his boyish looks and his incredibly low body fat. Evidently, people in his hometown took notice too — this week a customer recognized him at the Subway, threatening a boycott if he wasn’t fired. The twenty-two year old was subsequently dismissed.

We’re not sure if it’s illegal or not, but either way it’s their loss. Two years into his career, he’s getting hotter and hotter. Two studios, Hot House (above, with brother-in-name Jackson Wild) and Buckshot (in the just-released Splish Splash), are currently promoting the hell out of the twenty-two year old.

I’m sorry – he was working, at Subway?! Are we all just bypassing that part of the story?

Clearly, whoring it up and doing sex with strangers for money has worked out GREAT for this future business leader of America.

Jeez, forget about the diseases, the disrespect, the lack of job security… here’s a reason to get a real job and not do pornography: you have to pay the bills making cheap fast food sandwiches with processed meat, stuck in your hometown.

It sounds like it is time to boycott ‘Subway’ for workplace discrimination. What someone does on ones own time, is ones own business. I’m sure the overweight, sissy fag, that had to have watched the film in order to know he was in one, is just one of those slobs who will never have a life of their own.

So someone who watches porn calls for a boycott of someone who is in porn? Jeesh, wtf is that about? Someone in the industry should offer him a pr job or something to make up for the loss of income.

The $1000 question is why a customer who admittedly watches gay porn (since he or she recognized Kurt) can pretend to be offended by his making their sandwhich.
    Huh ?
If the customer was watching and wanking, then what in hell is the problem ?

How would somebody know he made porn if they weren’t watching it himself. This kid is a victim of another self loathing closet case.

    He should sue.

Besides…Subway sucks. They aren’t real hoagies anyway.

Its very sad that someone would go to such lengths to harass Kurt by threatening a boycott of the Subway Restaurant.

Its interesting to note that although most people treat porn stars as the aristocracy of the gay world they are usually poor and work in low level jobs. They dont make very much from their X movies and usually supplement their movie income with escorting and working in retail or restaurants. Many of them drift in and out of trouble with the law.

What is wrong with Subway? No one intelligent enough at Subway to figure out that the person who recognized him had to be surfing gay websites or gay themselves? DUH? What has that got to do with job performance?
Guess how many Subway managers and VP’s have wild and varied sexual interests? Seems like a double standard.
Ignorance and stupidity abounds. I hope he sues the daylights out of Subway for wrongful termination.

I don’t think it would be a case of a porn watcher dropping a dime on a porn star working at a Subway. I would assume that the gay porn fans recognized him and word got around town that a porn star was working at the local Subway. Believe me, I know how quick small town gossip spreads. This is mainly due to the fact that there is nothing else to do in these small towns. As for Subhole, all they have to do is make the claim that the kid had become a distraction and was hurting business, and they got an excuse to fire him. This does show a very interesting dynamic about our socieity. Porn is a multi-BILLION dollar industry. And look what happens when a porn star is outed….. (I prefer Firehouse Subs and beefy porn stars myself)

I think these 2 comments are pretty funny.

“I know that porn doesn’t pay”

“They dont make very much from their X movies”

Um, I thought gay pornstars were paid really well. That’s what I always keep hearing whenever there’s a gay-for-pay argument. All the straight boy lovers scream “They’re not gay! They’re doing it for the money! There’s TONS of money in gay porn! Blah blah blah!” And isn’t Kurt Wild one of those gay-for-pay guys? I remember reading an interview where he said he was and that he had a son.

    Whatever. I hate Subway.

I don’t think we’re getting all the story here.

MY theory: The customer recognized him, tried to hit on him or propositioned him thinking he was an easy cockslut off the set. When he got turned down or what have you, the customer fired back to the management as revenge.

This is why I prefer Quizno’s. They just seem more liberal there.

There are so many ironies here. One of the most prolific bottoms in porn who takes 12 inchers spends his off time making 12 inchers.

Plus, I agree with the other posters who are scratching their heads over this customer and his story. How could someone know this guy if they themselves had never seen gay porn? If he sees gay porn, then he himself is suspect. How did anyone ever fall for this or take the accuser seriously? Subway must be one homophobic company to put any weight whatsoever behind such a bizarre source of complaint. I won’t eat there again.

As a practical matter, all you really need to know is what the jury pool looks like in his area.

This guy’s in Missouri, where you could probably get away with a lynching if you wanted to. I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for the law to come to his aid. :-\

Actually, I think it’s kinda neat that he’s got the whole 3-kids-and-picket-fence and still does porn. If he’s a level-headed guy and has a level-headed spouse (and I assume he does, because it takes a fairly open mind to be willing to live so unconventionally), the kids should grow up just fine.

Then again… the kids are growing up in a red state, which isn’t too conducive to healthy development. (I should know; I did it.)

I’m not exactly a big Kurt Wild fan. I think it’s dumb to do porn (and be “gay for pay”) when you have 3 kids. Actually it’s kinda dumb to have 3 kids when you’re just 22 and your income comes from gay porn and working at Subway. But this story saddened me. Not that he was fired – let’s get serious, it’s not that much of a surprise. But that in spite of being quite popular in his “night job”, he still makes so little money that he has to stick to a fast food job. Poor boy! I hope he finds something better. (Maybe not in public relations, because it’s impossible to completely avoid similar future confrontations with other “righteously angry” customers.)

This isn’t the only recent case of someone getting into trouble because of their involvement in porn. In August, two wrestlers (one a national champion) were dismissed from the Nebraska University team because they got paid for using their image on a porno site. The NCAA prohibits them using their images for any commercial use.

This case is just disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. I really don’t believe Subway is any more of a “Decent” business after firing Kurt Wild. However, I really don’t believe that the majority of the porno industry is helping one bit to remove prejudism from a porno stars life when they make the type of product which is prevalent.

He isn’t gay, though. He’s basically bi. Said so: “I enjoy male energy, but I’m emotionally and physically attracted to women. There’s room for both.”

That said, he doesn’t seem to mind having other people label him “straight,” and he doesn’t correct them. But who cares? He seems like a nice guy, and seems comfortable in his own skin. I like him.

Wild…I dont know why it surprises you that he works at a Subway. It doesnt surprise me at all. Its very sad. Porn stars are treated like the aristocracy of the gay world but are usually poor and uneducated. The porno industry pays them relatively small amounts of money to perform. Most porn stars are escorts. A lot of them use their movies as advertising for their escort businesses. Many of them are strait boys with criminal backgrounds so they have very limited job opportunities.

Steve B. Please kill yourself for being the most ignorant bastard in the world. Porn stars are just the same as everyone else, just with a different job. They are not uneducated, most of the ones I know are very smart and good people. They are not poor, as I know quite a few with multiple homes. And most importantly, I do not know a single one with a criminal background.

You’re an asshole for even typing this post. While there may be a few that fit into one of your summations, that does not even come close to the type of people involved in the industry. It’s ironic how unfounded your alleged deformation sounds so remarkably close to uninformed republican propaganda. I work in the gay porn industry…does that sound unintelligent to you?

  49. Paul October 1st, 2008 at 10:55 AM

I’ve seen so many comments here about people wanting to “boycott” Subway and thinks that Kurt needs to sue them. The truth is (as a former franchise owner and store manager who is very much gay) it is not “Subway” that made the decision to fire him. It was the manager of the store or the franchise owner. Subway does not make those decisions nor do they have any control over the hiring/firing policies of the individual owners. So boycotting Subway would not make a difference. They, as a company, could care less if someone working in a store in Podunk, MS was gay or not.

As for whether or not it was legal, that depends on the states employment laws and if they state you cannot be fired soley on the basis of your sexual orientation. Also, and this is a long shot, whether there was any kind of written contract that he signed (not employment application) that contained any type of morals clause. I doubt that would be the case though as I’ve never seen such a thing in my 30 years in business. He might have a case to sue the franchise owner, but Subway itself would not be liable in any way.
