Is This The Most Charming Cody Cummings Fan In The World?
Occasionally someone will leave a comment on here that makes me take pause. Here is one such comment, from my recent entry on Falcon’s Guys Next Door:

He told me once that if he he hoped one day that enough women would join that he could stop letting the fags touch him anyway. We’ve spoken about women who love gay porn’s quite a bit, and over the past few years more and more women seem to be “coming out of the closet” as evidenced by the growing network of gay porn-loving women who identify themselves as the “Ladies of Gay Porn” (search twitter for #LOGP to find our more). The LOGP’s are a lovely, creative, supportive, positive group straight, bisexual and lesbian female porn fans — the person who left the comment above clearly isn’t one of them.
But it begs the question: Are homophobic gay porn fans the natural progression for using “gay for pay” models?

The answer seems to be yes. Was there not an implicit homophobia built into the logic of “gay for pay” from the beginning? That hilarious comment doesn’t offer a new read on the “straight” porn actor fantasy. The assumed (gay) perspective is simply substituted for an implicit (desiring female) one. The “gay for pay” fantasy is inherently self-defeating. The only mystery is why the fantasy continues to be so undeniably hot. Is it a holdover from more homophobic times, or something deeper? Quentin Crisp once remarked that the tragedy of the homo was that he was always in search of a real man. ‘Real’ men, however, didn’t go for other guys. After so many progressive hurdles have been crossed (kissing, star bottoms, etc.), something about Crisp’s quip still rings true…

What Jeannemarie doesn’t seem to understand, besides basic English, is that Cody is making a LOT of money off of selling himself as a gay fantasy on a GAY website. We all know he’s straight, and that’s OK — it wasn’t a choice (I’ve been gay for over five years and that isn’t going to change either, honey). But then don’t slam gay men for wanting him to go further or “corrupt” him by being allowed to be touched. That is idiotic. I’m not really sure how seriously we should take this person’s statment. First of all, it could have been another gay man that posted it. We can all use whatever name we want. Secondly, we have no way of knowing if this person ever talked to Cody, or if he ever said these things. Until I hear these words from Cody himself, I won’t believe them. It’s way too easy to pretend to be somebody else and say whatever you want on websites. If in fact, he did say these things, then I think it’s sad he’s taking in gay dollars, but we need to give him the benefit of the doubt. Right now, I could post my name as Cody Cummings, and say ‘I hate gay guys. They’re all stupid for paying me money’. Would that mean he said it? No. Personally, I’ve never been a fan of Cody’s anyways. How anyone could make money in the gay porn industry at all, let alone for 5 years by just sitting there and getting serviced is beyond me, but let people watch what they want. I guess my point here is to take these kinds of things with a grain of salt, and if you like a certain type of porn and/or a performer, go for it.

Isn’t the point of a blog to have a “bias”, i.e. an opinion? Either way, I’d love for you to show me some examples of this so-called bias we have against straight/bi performers.
Also, hurl all the accusations and pitchfork metaphors you want at us, but the truth is that in the 8 years we’ve been writing this blog, Mike & I have managed to keep this site pretty positive. If we don’t like someone or something, we don’t write about it.
Furthermore, this person’s comment was hardly an “anonymous posting”; the comment was linked to twitter account and email address and their IP address matches the city that commenter lives in.
That being said, the point of spotlighting this comment was to start a conversation about female porn fans and homophobia existing within viewers of gay porn. She asked me to remove her twitter account from the post, and I’ve given her the benefit of the doubt and done so.

The way I see it, the reason Cody Cummings doesn’t fuck men, suck them off or allow himself to be fucked is because he reserves those activities for his private life. He does “whatever” to women because that is not seen as a threat to his relationship. Why else would he hold out this long? Whoever posted the comment defending Cody Cummings in such an atrocious way is pretty much trolling or out of touch with reality. Why on earth would women who dislike gay men and homosexual acts, watch a straight man get serviced by men??? I cannot speak to why Cody Cummings is so popular, (as noted by number of twitter followers and the fact that NDS still gives him a job), but I know as a female who is a fan of gay porn, I pay hard earned money to watch gay men engage in sexual activity with other men! If Cody Cummings hadn’t been called out for homophobic off-camera behavior, I’d be willing to chalk him up as a case of Your Kink Is Not My Kink. There are guys on all ends of the Kinsey Scale who get off on being denied their object of desire. I am the person being blamed for the nasty post above, because the person who really wrote it,somehow used my ID instead of having the guts to use their own. In the first place, I speak and write better grammar than that. Secondly, doesn’t it make sense that the things this person wrote are not any truer than the name they used? I realize that most of you are not fans of Cody, and you have every right to your opinions. But, is it really fair to hate him even more because of something that someone else claims he said? Would any of you want to be judged that way?
Unfortunately, I do not personally know Cody Cummings, nor have I ever had a personal conversation with him, but I am a loyal fan. Does that mean I should be called nasty names?
Finally, despite what some of you may think, I am not homophobic, and I don’t believe I have ever said or done anything to come across that way. Why do people continue to refer to Cody as a “straight man?” I don’t know any straight men who get blowjobs by men. It’s one thing to try it once and keep it moving.
