Gay Vintage Porno ‘Score’: Now with More Men!
While Al Parker was never able to get his foreskin back, I’m glad to report that some things from the 70s can be fully restored to their original gay glory. Radley Metzger’s sexploitation classic Score is being re-released in HD, with formerly deleted man-man sex scenes that were chopped from the original. (The movie, which is based on a Jerry Douglas play that originally starred Sylvester Stallone, isn’t the only porno chic revival these days — Douglas is directing The Deep Throat Sex Scandal at the Bleeker Street Theater in New York.)
Score, a story about a couple swingers on vacation in the European city of Leisure was part of the all-too-brief period of porno chic when everyone felt that hardcore sex and polite cinema were bound to merge. The trailer (after the jump) is closer to Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice than a 8mm peep show loop. Incidentally, Score was a big influence on director Travis Mathews, who’s I Want Your Love project has been getting so much press. Maybe the dream of integration hasn’t died …

Score will be released later this month; Metzger will be on hand in LA on November 7th, for a screening of Score and a Q&A at the Silent Movie Theater on Fairfax.

This was the first dabbling of Metzger into hardcore, though only in the gay scenes. Quite an interesting twist. Metzger will be at the LA screening as well as the only known surviving cast member, Lynn Lowry (Carl Parker has yet to resurface)!!

SCORE was a big influence on me, too. I was enthralled the first time I saw this (and it was the uncut version). The entire movie is one long seduction of the young married couple and by the end, you are climbing the walls for their plan to come to fruition. When you watch my movies and see a long seduction process between the main characters, it’s because of SCORE. I accidently erased my VHS copy of it decades ago, and since then, only the cut version has been available. I ordered the unedited movie on Blu-Ray and can’t wait to see it again! I always thought Gerald Grant was hot, and now I’m hoping for a dvd release of his other X movie, 1975’s BOTH WAYS, written & directed by Jerry Douglas!

It was not 1972,at least later. I remember my lover exclaiming “what a waste” when one of the leads jerked off in frustation. At the Quad in the Village where it was shown back then, there were only gay scenes, and it was a real turn on, imagining the best for the future.
