Gay Porn Stars Who Blog, Redux

It’s hard to believe that it was over a year ago that I was bemoaning the fact so few gay porn stars were “blogging” in the true sense of the word. Fast-forward to now, and I’m excited to report that they’ve started cropping up at a most respectable clip.

The Gay Porn Star Bloggers Class of ’06 realize that there’s more to having a Web site than just posting image galleries of themselves. By blogging they expand the fantasy and allow us to interact with them.

Through his blog, twink superstar Brent Corrigan elevates himself into “your ultimate sexual icon”. Dousing it liberally with a generous dose of completely gratuitous nude photos of himself, his posts may occasionally fall on the wordy side, but his attitude and ambition are refreshingly bright and emanate with a youthful exuberance that will instantly convert you into a fan. On Friday, 4/21, he’s doing Brent Aid — a twink-fest “cam-a-thon” to raise money for his legal bills from his ongoing battle with Cobra Video. Jason Ridge’s blog reveals a candid side that’s stylish, frank, and — dare I say — even deep. Through travelogues, ruminations on spirituality, and the occasional angsty pontification on the porn industry, he projects a multi-facited persona and proves that he’s way more than just another pretty face.

Reading Johnny Hazzard’s blog without any prior knowledge of his porn career, and you might mistake the scruffy bon vivant for someone who writes for a living. The ongoing chronicle of his affair with François Sagat is the stuff dreams (and countless masturbatory fantasies) are made of. Guest blog entries by Boywonder, his mom, and friends mix things up nicely.

To boot, lots of studios and directors are realizing the potential and joining in on the blogging game. Chi Chi LaRue’s Hot Tracker is a lot of fun; her gregariousness, humor and unpredictability really come across in the writing. Just post more often, bitch! I noticed at least one glaring omission, Jack! Mr. Jett Blakk, of Red Devil Studios keeps one of the cleverer blogs about the business of shooting porn. Jett Black is one of the most ambitious and successful directors of story-driven porn, and he really loves his work. Blakk has a great sense of character, dialogue and unlike most porn filmmakers, goes beyond just ‘premise’ to makes movies that gets you off, but don’t bore you to death. You can tell the guy is having fun — just check out the crazy costume pics from his latest production, Masquerade (featuring Jacob Slader, Ty Hudson and Corbin Michaels).
