Is it me or does Matthew Rush seem a bit … off kilter?

    Like, Duh.
Why is it still important to have these announcements. I honestly fail to understand why people cannot figure it out that unprotected sex can kill you.
Forget the itch. Forget the pain. Forget the gross discharge. STI/STD’s are nothing compared with death.
I STRONGLY recommend all blogs/porn reviewers/anyone with a voice, to ACTIVELY denounce bareback sex in films. And make everyone aware, once and for all, that the game is really not a game at all.

Wow, Sam! I’m envious! You’ve had sex with ‘most’ of those Porn Stars and without a condom! BAREBACK!

… well, at least I suppose you’ve had sex with them since you “know that as a fact” they don’t use condoms off the set …

And if they don’t perhaps I’m not so envious!

Remember, you don’t get HIV … or STDs … from a toilet seat! As ChiChi says ‘Wrap it up!’ or as these guys say ‘Roll one on!’

I am the BIGGEST safer sex advocate ever and never had unsafe sex but I agree with some here that this was a horrible video. Matt Rush is reading a cue card and so many others look horrible and are the last ones to be the poster child for safe sex. In addition, the laughing at the end with the condom makes this thing look like a joke. You can tell each one of these guy’s heart is not into this video. None spoke from the heart how HIV has affected them. Steve Cruz made a mockery of safe sex.

Awesome! Keep it goin’ Steve, this is really important work. Maybe if you repeat it often and long enough, gayboys will start listening to you.

But, sadly, with regard to Adam’s comments regarding denouncing barebacking in films… these are not the guys to talk to. True story: I was working a porn booth at a popular event, and a well known condom-only-studio model walks up to the booth and says I shouldn’t be selling these bareback films. I say why not? and he says becuase they’re bb and young guys don’t know that they shouldn’t bb. And then he buys four of them.

Oh well. Maybe I should have asked him how he rolls, and if he were honest, he’d say “over and over and over again!”

This people in this industry are out of control with their cunty, disgusting, self-loathing attitudes. Why are so many of you unhappy, I mean SERIOUSLY? Is your antidepressant not working? Have you given up on your therapist? Why are you so fucking miserable? Why do you have nothing but negative things to say? You all make me sick.

Well I cannot speak for all these fellas in this PSA, but I have had unprotected sex with two of the guys personally. So while I do agree that the way to stay negative is to use a rubber all the time, I do find it hypocritical that at least two of these guys are not “practicing what they preach”. B- for effort, C+ for believability, B+ for execution.

As for CHI CHI and the “on the record” of safe sex on set etc…baby if one of these boys needs a raw cock up there ass to make the shot…TRUST ME IT HAPPENS.
    As for the “front man”
let’s just say it’s a good thing he doesn’t have to sware it’s the ONLY way he Roles!

Guys, dont jump all over Sam. Both Ridge and Rush have spoken openly how they bareback sometimes so it is hypocritical for some. One thing that is sad is this infomerical is almost joking about safe sex with all the models laughing and just saying the words. We can do better than this.

The porn industry isn’t against barebacking to save lives – it’s to save themselves from competition.

I only play safe and I DON’T but or rent bare back films. I think they’re gross.

but let’s be truthful about the industry.

  28. steve Cruz September 11th, 2008 at 7:37 AM

First to ‘Cranky’, I can see why you might think that. But truthfully my motives are much different. When I was much younger I lost one of my best friends to HIV. It shattered a part of me. I was in the room when he coded, watching his life slip literally out of my hands. Something like that effects you for the rest of your life.

The rest of you: I think most of you are dissecting this zero-budget youtube clip and making it out be more than it’s supposed to be. The back story on how we made this is on my blog: stevecruzblog.com

Since everyone has an opinion, I ask this:
“If the goal is to keep negative guys negative.
What do you feel would be the most effective way to stop someone, especially young guys, from sero-converting this year… if YOU were sending a message what would YOU say?”

STOP thinking – “Oh just an inch, just this once, it can’t be dangerous”
STOP thinking – “Drugs don’t affect me when I’m having sex”

    and most importantly…

STOP thinking – “HIV drugs will keep me safe – whether I’m taking them now or taking them in the future”

Wow, everybodies a critic!! The religous right can stop wasting time trying to rip apart the gay community. We do a fine job of it ourselves.

I applaud Steve Cruz for doing his small part to hep stop the spread of HIV in the gay community. For all you bitchy queens — what have you done? If 1 gay teen in Podunk Iowa sees this clip, decides to use a condom – 1 life saved..

To AMEN: Your comments about what happens on the set of CHI CHI’s movies IS A TOTAL LIE!!! I would know, I’m there. Can you say the same? Outside of the models & CHI CHI, there is only 2-3 others.. So– ur either FULL OF SHIT or about to called out big time..

I fail to see the logic in postings that claim they know for a “fact” that the stars in this PSA don’t use condoms. That they only did the promo for money, that they know what’s in the hearts of these people. Easy to make immature allegations by insecure people who simply thrive on drama and negativity. I for one DO know the truth about the industry. I’m the gerbil who had a long term relationship with Richard Gere before he left me for Tom Cruise.

Steve Cruz does ask the perfect question. My response would be HONESTY. Guys can be HIV positive and still have sex with a condom. Performers should come forward get tested and be honest. As most of us know so many HIV positive guys have unsafe sex. That needs to stop. That infects more people.
But seriously, I understand the budget was low but Steve made a great point here on how HIV affected him personally. Too bad he did not put that in his video. NONE of these models in his video seemed to give a rat’s ass. It would be great for a gay porn star to come forward with being Negative and openly state that. It seems there are way too many postive guys in gay porn.

Also – why has straight porn gotten away with not using condoms for so long?

The whole campaign is lost in Steve Cruz’s ego. The unfortunate fact about most NFP’s is that they are driven more by ego than the desire to help. There has never once been an ad that didn’t have his face on it. As far as I know, Steve has never done the leg-work to speak to people, without showing up to shake his ass at the same time. There are no volunteers, no coordinated efforts with other agencies, nothing. In fact, if he is set up as an NFP, he should make sure he’s doing some major CYA, because the IRS could have some questions about his “show”.

They’re adult sex performers, not thespians. Their message works fine for me. I agree with Steve Cruz, until someone dies of AIDS complications in your arms, it really doesn’t hit home. We need to prevent that from happening as much as possible because a cure and a vaccination are both elusive.

If anyone should pass along the message of safe sex, it should be those who make a living (to some degree) from fucking on camera. Steve Cruz deserves credit for at least trying.

Well I think gay men need to stop worrying about relating gay men with AIDs, and stop being such whores and fucking anything with a dick. If you don’t have sex with a different person every night, you don’t have to worry about getting one of these STDs. I say, let the whores die out if they want. stop giving gay men that aren’t sluts a bad name…the end :)
