Jon Vincent (1962 – 2000)

Today would have been Jon Vincent 53rd birthday and we mark the day in his honor. Jon Vincent was born Jeff Vickers in New Orleans and was a such a naturally gifted athlete, he was signed at age 20 with the Kansas City Royals. In his auto-biography, Thousand and One Night Stands: The Life of Jon Vincent, he cites an injury as the reason he was terminated from the Royals though baseball insiders point to a conspiracy to sell cocaine. Substance related problems would be a running theme throughout his life and ultimately his death. Jon Vincent died of a heroin overdose in New York City on May 3, 2000. “Vincent was a thrill junkie: a compulsive seeker of sexual adventure, physical danger, steroids, alcohol, cocaine and finally heroin. Heroin was stronger than he was; it took over his life and finally killed him,” recounted H.A. Carson, the co-author of Jon’s memoir.

Following his expulsion from baseball, Jon Vincent took up body building and that led him to both bi and gay porn. On set and off, Jon was known for his “hyper-masculine demeanor” which may have been a nice way of saying ‘roid rage. “He was frequently rough with his co-stars, and was even known to put his fist through a wall during an argument with a director,” recalled a former co-star. At one point, Jon Vincent was dating the late Joey Stefano in a relationship that was “considered toxic to them both.” He was also known for saying harsh and degrading things to the men with whom he had sex in his films — which were always white or Latin. Though Blue Bailey reflected that in his personal life, Jon preferred men of color. All of the contradictions in Jon’s life for a while melded into his screen persona captured in his films like Hard Eight, 9 Inch Males and the uber Falcon hit, Revenge. Happy Birthday, Jon Vincent. Rest in Peace.
