TIME’S RUNNING OUT TO HELP FINANCE CHRIS PORTER’S DEBUT ALBUM

Chris Porter Gay Porn Star Turned Hip Hop Artist

Saying Chris Porter is a fan of change is a bit of an understatement. When he was 15, he was in a punk band. By 2007, he started rapping under the name Double Dose (mind you, this was all before going into porn). In the last year, he moved from San Francisco to Greece to NYC, changed his name Stose, and self-produced a single, Alive, which you can get on iTunes, Amazon, or Spotify. He created a Kickstarter campaign to help reach his goal of producing a full-length album. His Kickstarter ends really soon (Saturday, June 23) and he hasn’t reached his goal yet.

But before you listen to Alive, you have to give Chris Porter credit for moving in a direction that’s not exactly guaranteed to garner a ton of support from fans who know and love him from gay porn. I mean, I’ve said it before, but if I had a nickel for every gay man who’s said, “I like all kinds of music except rap and country”, I could probably wipe out the national debt. Not to mention: Chris is marching headlong into territory where homophobia isn’t just tolerated but is practically encouraged; where “faggot” is thrown around as casually as gay men throw around the word “Mary”.

By my estimates, he would have an easier time opening a gay bed and breakfast in Tehran. But of course nothing worth doing in life is easy or a sure bet. If he was looking for the easy route, he would be making the kind of thump-thump-thump dance music he could take his shirt off and lip sync to on stage at the White Party. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that — but let’s leave it to Zeb Atlas)

I’ve been a huge fan of Chris’s since his first scene in 2010 for DominicFord.com, and I’ve since been lucky enough to work with him and even become his friend. But his new music stands on its own. And even if you’re not a fan of hip hop you can’t not admire what he’s managed to accomplish before turning 24 years old. Throw him a few bones and help him reach his goal.

Some of us are allowed to disagree this guy has accomplished alot by the age of 24. How does he have money to travel to Greece for months but expects strangers to give him money.
No thanks. Arent there enough wiggers in the world already? Think about it. If he really had talent, he would not be using porn, this site, and other things to jump start his career.

      Luke-

By the time I was 24, I had accomplished being a temp in an office, so to me it’s impressive. Also, I think you’re wrong about ” If he really had talent, he would not be using porn, this site, and other things to jump start his career.” For the record, Chris never asked me to promote his kickstarter here on GayPornBlog — I did it because he’s my friend. He’s not using any of the gay porn channels to promote this. If you read his bio on Kickstarter, he never mentions he did gay porn … really only mentions that he’s gay once.

I’m probably one of the very few gay men out there who truly loves quality hip-hop music. I wildly prefer Nicki Minaj’s verse on Kanye West’s “Monster” to any of the tracks on either of her albums, and I consider Nas to be one of the most important artists in music. Unfortunately, Chris Porter/Stose/whatever-the-fuck-is-the-name-on-his-driver’s-license isn’t convincing me that he currently has what it takes to be an important part of the rap community. I really do love the idea of having a prominent gay rapper, and I also love the idea of a porn star successfully making the transition to being a professional musician. While I do feel that Chris has honed his craft far better than his porn star colleagues who have attempted to cross over into music, I think he has a long way to go. It sounds like he wants to make more “serious” hip-hop music, and if that’s the case, he should listen to a lot of Nas and Common recordings and examine how they tell stories in their songs. Repetition and lack of thematic variation can kill a track very quickly in hip-hop music. Not all rappers need to shoot for clever lines like Eminem and Kanye West, but they need to be able to paint pictures vividly with their lyrics. Otherwise, it’s easy to sound like you’re rambling about whatever comes to mind over a producer’s track.

    IM SORRY
I wrote some comments early this morning before work and before the coffee kicked in. I was trying to be funny and a smart ass. But after reading the written words, they seem harsh and cruel. I am sorry for this. I strongly believe everyone should follow their dreams no matter what they are. I personally am not into this kind of music but I know there are lots of people that enjoy it. I am sorry Chris Porter and sorry to Gaypornblog. I felt bad about this all day and had to write again. Good luck and best wishes!

It is just me or is Chris really getting into the tan thing. You can see it on his face particularly.

Sorry guys, but I find this guy posing as a rapper as completely laughable, he should stick to surrendering his ass for money.

I liked him better as the porn star minus the “world vs me schtick”. When he got the I’m always right everyone is wrong attitude he lost me.

I think there may be room for only one gay rapper out there….and Cazwell has already claimed that slot.

I kind of agree with ‘Luke’. Chris Porter seems like an awesome lovely young guy but he must be earning an absolute bomb doing porn. So it seems a bit cheeky when proper down-to-the-heel formally established bands now have to use kickstarter as the only way to get their music back out there
