Who’s Men Magazine‘s Man of the Year? The wait is over (pins and needles, bated breath and all that). For the second year in a row (last year was Zeb Atlas, for the second time), Men has chosen someone with killer abs, mountainous pecs, a highly serviceable (if not exactly gag-worthy) penis and … a girlfriend. While we love str8 bait as much as the next self-loathing homosexual, we’re more impressed when they actually put out. (That goes for 2002 Man of the Year Mark Dalton as well.) The winner? After the jump…gay-porn-johnny-castle-men-magazine-man-of-year-pic.jpg
I guess Johnny Castle is straight to bed. Just not ours…

Fuck MEN magazine. Like there aren’t any gay men hot enough to be Man of the Year? I like to look at a naked Str8 guy as much as anybody, but I find this trend irritating.

I don’t get it. It’s a gay mag for gay men… and the man of the year is “straight”? Well, I guess as straight as any man who takes his clothes off and gets sexually excited for other men… hmmm? Anyway, it seems there are enough beautiful GAY men to celebrate; keep it gay Men magazine.

Dalton, Castle, Atlas, all STRAIGHT as they come and will not kiss or touch a dick. All 3 are also represented by David Forrest. Either he is doing something right or gay guys dont like gay guys. Go figure.
This is way too coincidence for me. If someone is to be recognized as a gay model, do they have to be straight and hate gay sex?

what is it with this guy? yeah, he has a nice body, but that’s it. he’s not hot.

an like pablo said, he, along with dalton and atlas are respresented by david forrest = HUSTLER! as in, i’ll let you blow me and fuck your hole, in private, as long as you pay. i’m so over the straight hustlers in porn!

I don’t get it – man of the year – what has he done for humanity – surely not popping pills etc to get the physique of a brumby is a sign of being man of the year.

Gay for pay: isn’t it even not really that good a pay? hmmm

Gay publications often give preference to straight men. OUT Magazine always has hot straight men on the cover. If they do anything on a gay man, he won’t be a hot sex symbol. They stick to straight men (or supposedly straight men) for that.
It angers me, so I don’t by OUT and I won’t be buying Men either. I’ve had enough of the self-loathers. Personally, straight men are less attractive to me, ipso facto.

    You tell em Johnny…

People bash they winners, well where in the Men magazine rules did it say you had to be gay to win ? It said “Men magazine Man of the year” he appeared in the magazine so he was qualified to win…get it ?
I suppose if he were ‘gay for pay’ it would make a difference ? He admits he is straight the others usually have no comment and you never know until they finally admit it in an interview or a gay gossip site prints it.

Don’t hate the player hate the game!

Oh gee look people bashing another straight porn star on here, shock! awe!
If you look over here to the left you see an add that says “Straight guys for gay eyes” with a girl stroking his cock.
Does that mean we bash this site for allowing a straight man to get stroked by a woman on a gay porn blog ?
    Thought not.

“If someone is to be recognized as a gay model, do they have to be straight and hate gay sex?”

Hey, I’d say this is clear evidence of the sort of self-loathing that still infects our identities, quite frankly.

Vote with your dollars, people. Don’t like MEN’s decision? Don’t buy the issue. Cancel subscriptions. There is literally only one thing that gets listened to by any business, and that is the Bottom Line.

actually this is a bit silly. what does the title “man of the year” really mean? there are way too many wonderfully gorgeous and talented men in this industry to fit the bill in one way or another. congrats johnny castle, but the whole title seems too much like a flash in the pan.

i do agree with you guys, there is something a little curious about a straight man haling as a gay man of the year. how does that translate?

I agree – all of our “gay” publications feature hot STRAIGHT men as their primary. There is no homophobia as deep as that held by gay people themselves.

I’ve stopped buying virtually any “gay” publications because of this.

So yeah, I agree that it does seem rather incongruous for a gay magazine to conistently trumpet straight men as their man of the year, but c’mon. This is not Time magazine. I personally don’t think we should be putting much stock into validating our gay existence into a magazine like Men to begin with. I’m sure their criteria for the title was, “Big dick, check. Washboard abs, check. White, check. Meh, we’ll give him the title.” That’s all. It’s just masturbatory material.

Ya know, we don’t mind the straight boys being in gay porn…i really don’t think we mind…BUT…i don’t think they should be put on a pedastal and called a ‘pornstar’ within our community when they haven’t even sucked a dick. Are we being used? Hell yeah we are, but we ALLOW ourselves to be used guys. I love straight guys in gay porn…but they had better suck a fuckin’ dick (and i dont even mind when they act like it bothers them, but meanwhile they’re ROCK hard) if they want to call themselves a ‘pornstar’.

I AGREE. I stopped my subscription to MEN when they stopped celebtating actual gay men. IF we as a community don’t stop fluttering like a bunch of weak-kneed schoolgirls with a new Teen Beat Magazine over straight men, then I refust to recognize that publications like MEN are a valid voice for our community. Yes, even when it comes time to celebrate our sexuality AND get our rocks off!!! I’m sure Mr. Castle is laughing at us all behind out backs….all the way to the bank.

You girls need to lighten up! It’s not like The Advocate named him “Man of the Year” in a gay pride/political sense. He was named their sexiest guy in the magazine this year – and I think he is.

I’m hiring him for a session in the next couple of weeks and trust me I don’t hire guys who don’t have sex!

I think it’s disappointing that another straight man has been chosen as the Man of the Year. AGAIN! Perhaps the title should be changed to “Straight Man of the Year”. I guess it means that a lot of gay men want something they can’t have… either that or someone rigged the voting. Just remember when you look at his images… he’s turned on by the thought of a woman. He probably got that erection by looking at images of a naked women in a magazine (just out of view of the camera). Doesn’t that turn you on!

It’s funny how many of us know which of these models are straight, especially when it’s not mentioned in the magazine. If some of us supposedly don’t care, then why is it we all seem to know who is straight and who is gay?

Straight men disappoint me for one very good reason… they don’t want to have sex with men! Besides they hardly ever show their assholes! Just try and see if you can find a picture of Johnny Castle’s asshole in his photo spread at Men… you won’t find one.

If you ask me I think gay men are far more interesting to look at. It’s the look they give the camera, and all the parts of their bodies they are pleased and willing to show another guy. Their eyes are making love through the camera lens to the guy they know is looking at their body, and they won’t stop teasing until we get a drop of pre-cum on our dicks. Which one of us hasn’t loved the look real gay porn stars like Josh Weston, Colby Taylor or Marcus Iron give, whey they are fucking or being fucked. They dig men and their eyes show it. Seeing that in a man is what turns me on, just as much as the physical beauty of men!

It be nice if Men could just put gay men in it’s magazine for one whole year, so a gay man can actually have a chance of winning Man of the Year. Until then I’ll just do what I’ve always done to guess which ones are gay (before I vote), I check for a guy who shows his asshole… preferably one that shows signs of being used! Now that is hot. That type of model is worthy of the title “Gay Man of the Year”.

Just because the readers have the opportunity to vote, it doesn’t mean that those votes actually count for something, in all honesty i wouldn’t be surprised if those votes got tossed into a trash bin the second they arrived at the offices. at the end of the day Men magazine can print whatever they feel like it. And although i do find Mr. Castle really, really hot, the fact that he is straight just turns me off. I’ve lost interest in gay for pay solo artists. Like someone said earlier, they can be g4p as long as they interact with someone else with a dick.

What an articulate and well thought out reply to my original post! All it needed were “like” and “dude” peppered throughout and it would have be spot on.

I wonder if donating money to AMFAR, God’s Love We Deliver, and the HRC on a regular basis means anything to this twit. How about volunteering for gay friendly politician’s campaigns? I do that, too. Do you – ever? Probably not.

You probably don’t volunteer for anything – unless we count the sling in the back room of your local dive bar.

    Oh well…
I guess I’ve gone and upset yet another mindless Abercrombie clone (probably in his forties – a majority are it seems).

There there, Christmas is coming. Maybe Santa will bring you the latest faded-front jeans or an iPhone. Then you can just snap out of your middle-aged malaise and crawl back into your vapid hole of trend and tacky excess where no one ever challenges you (unless you’re wearing something out of fashion, of course).

Oh, and the name you’ve chosen speaks volumes. Congratulations on that.

    Good luck to you!

    Not sexy. Not gay.

These so called gay magazines give preference to straight people. It’s self-hating and it reforces self-hatred on the community. That matters. Gay people can fight against bigoted lawmakers and prejudical gay magazines at the same time. It’s not a one or the other situation.

No I wouldn’t want Francesco D’Macho as Man of the Year. He is self hating. He has said that he prefers straight guys over gay men.

Playgirl does somewhat the same thing. I personally don’t care if the man is gay, straight or bisexual. What I don’t understand is why gay men tend to buy Playgirl magazine probably even more than women. Its a womans magazine catered to and for them.., maybe not necessarily the pictures but all the articles. I personally like Men magazine better, but I agree there is something very disturbing going on and like another reader said I too think it has to do with out community. We are so splintered. I don’t know what all this damn fuss concerning straight men is about. Myself… I prefer a hot handsome, masculine, gay man . I dropped my subscription to Men Magazine back in 2003. Don’t get me wrong I like seeing hot naked men that are straight and bi, but it’s time we showed the love for ourselves. We need to start caring about US as MEN !!
Johnny Castle your body and cock is smokin’ hot but I’m sorry dude, your face does nothing for me at all !

I’ve met Johnny Castle in real life and he let me take a picture with him (no “fee”). That tells me that he’s a people person. He’s not just in it for the money, he enjoys meeting people.
