Brandon Moore: The Gay Porn Blog Interview

As 2013 comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on my favorite new performers of the year. Conner Maguire, Ty Roderick, Justin Owen, Shawn Wolfe all come to mind. When I think of ASS, however, there’s one clear winner in my book: Brandon Moore. The occasional fetish star has only had a few scenes released so far, but they’ve all been totally amazeballs: he fisted himself before getting fisted in a scene for Hot House Inferno and had let Austin Wilde jizz all over his face on Guys In Sweatpants. From the second I saw him, I was obsessed. We started chatting on Twitter and I quickly realized he was a real smarty pants, too. I sat down with Brandon to talk about porn as performance art, gay culture and how to learn to take a fist.

GayPornBlog: How old are you?

Brandon Moore: 25

Where are you from?:
North Carolina and Ohio mainly, but I moved around a lot as a kid.

Where do you live now?

LA, East Culver City

Do you have a “day job” when you’re not doing porn? 

Do you escort?
Nope.

So far I’ve only seen you in a handful of scenes (Guys in Sweatpants, Club Inferno, and a couple for Kink’s sites). Do you have any other scenes in the can coming out? 
I sure do, I sure do. I’m not sure about the legalities of it all, but I guarantee everyone will get a few good yanks out of em’ and probably learn a lot along the way. 

 I’m fascinated when a young man such as yourself can take a fist. It usually takes years of practice. How’d you get so good at it?

I started working my hole at a young age with my old little league bat, a bowling trophy I found in our garage, and one of those crayon banks. I finally took a fist at 19 with a guy I still talk to in LA. I’m by no means an expert yet but his hands are huge and he really knows how to work a hole. I went fucking blind the first time I crested his knuckles. He’s vers so I get to learn a lot by fisting him too, but I prefer to be the one getting stretched.

You’ve been submissive in all your scenes so far. What does being submissive do for you?

I’m a thrill seeker, so what originally drew me into fisting and submission was the danger. Though I’ve learned that it’s so much more than that. It’s about willingly becoming an object for your top to transform through trust and knowing your limits. The best is when you push past your limits. I’ve been punch-fucked twice and it was like being transported through space and time, I swear to god.

Who are some of your porn idols, i.e., people you look up to in the porn industry. Are there any porn stars you would really like to work with?

I’ve always looked up to Matthieu Paris and Trent Bloom as having the most talented holes in the industry. I admire Sebastian Keys and Christian Owen for their dedication to the creative side of the industry. I have a lot of respect for Christian for refining a signature aesthetic; it takes incredible talent to do that, no matter what your profession is. From my experience I can’t say I have anyone that I’d like to work with. When you’re the one watching it all looks hot, but sometimes on set the chemistry just ain’t right and egos get in the way. I just really appreciate it when the other performer and I can get lost in some honest, passionate fucking. Not only does it make for a hot scene, but it also makes for some mind-blowing sex.

You told me you are dedicated to intellectualizing the performance aspect of gay porn, specifically BDSM porn. Can you elaborate on this? Do you consider yourself an artist?

To me, performance art is any performance that challenges existing canons of human behavior. That’s what I feel gay porn is, it’s new mythologies for when you slide something in someone’s ass and start bangin’ around. I think porn is profound in the fact that it instructs us on something we’ve all been doing since the dawn of time, fucking. As performers we have a relationship to the audience to incite them to dump their load on, in, around, aboard, wherever the hell they want, whatever gets them off. I see all “porn stars” as performance artists, whether they want to see it or not. We’re creating content that shapes, and often challenges, a chunk of society’s perspective on what makes us all wanna cum. BDSM porn is specifically interesting to me because it deals with stamina and submission. Watching a person actively surrender their free will and be fucked is so incredibly hot and it alters my sense of where I can take my body and what I can do with it.

Who are your favorite artists?

One of my favorite artists, Marina Abramović, works a lot with ideas of willing objectivity and I keep this in mind sometimes when I am filming the extreme shit.

Do you produce any art (outside of porn)?

I’m working on a few concepts right not but haven’t produced any work as an artist yet. I continue to gain inspiration from each scene I do, so I’m sure something convoluted involving my asshole is on the horizon.

You also mentioned on twitter that you refused to adhere to the canons of contemporary homosexual culture. What are some things that bother you about contemporary gay culture?

I just hate that I always feel like I’m being sold my happiness. It pains me as an amateur gay historian to know that so many brave, creative, intellectuals took so many risks for me to be accepted by society; only to have a few closet cases who can’t get over their neuroses idealize straight culture and commodify what I’m supposed to want to shove up my ass. It sucks that I can look back at Tom of Finland and read about these underground piss and fisting parties in the West Village in the 70’s and see the catalysts for developing an eroticism that is uniquely homosexual. It’s like someone took off our training wheels too early and we’ve just been riding down a hill with our feet off the pedals for balance. We’re going fast but we’re not learning anything. The worst part is that I don’t even have any suggestions for fixing it because I’ve been raised in a society with this mindset. I fucking love the idea of being gang banged by 30 construction workers in a public restroom or being forced to service a pack of marines who then tie me down and use me like a piece of property, and I’ve come to terms with that. I just try to stay educated and remind myself that I have a free ticket to shape our culture and I might just the balls to do it.

Sad post script: A few days after our interview, Brandon informed me that he was going to stop doing porn due to concerns he got after watching the documentary After Porn Ends. Let’s hope he re-thinks his “retirement” and returns to porn ASAP.
