Voters Could Outlaw Bareback Porn in 2016

The douche-baggery of Michael Weinstein and the AIDS Health Foundation(AHF) has extended into maniacal zealotry aimed at controlling not only what every man does with penis, but giving others a say in the matter. No,this is not a drill or a very late April Fool’s Day prank.

For years, Weinstein has attacked the porn industry for what he deems sub-par testing procedures and its refusal to mandate the use condoms. Five years ago, Weinstein submitted a formal request to OSHA to crack down on condom avoidance. His organization was also behind Los Angeles County’s condom law which is coming to a vote on the 2016 ballot according to the LA Times.

More than just condoms, Weinstein is also trying to legislate hygiene protocols that even some health advocates say are unnecessary.

“These are regulations designed for medical settings, and are unworkable on an adult film set — or even a Hollywood film set,” said Diane Duke, CEO of the Free Speech Coalition, a trade association for the adult entertainment industry. She said the rules would stigmatize performers and risk “shutting down an entire industry.”

To me, it sounds like the same fear-inspired tactic covering up an ulterior, nefarious motive the same way the Pro-Life crowd is trying to force abortion clinics to close by requiring they achieve hospital trama-level certification.

AHF President Michael Weinstein

One of the more outlandish provisions of the proposed “condom law” facilitates any California resident lawfully making a citizen’s arrest if they spot barebacking in a porn film. Furthermore, in addition to OSHA fines of up to $70,000, the proposed law would actually allow John or Jane Q. Public to sue both the producer and the performers. Such a lawsuit would force performers to disclose their legal names and other information and they worry frivolous law suits may be enacted by stalkers and other obsessed fans.

Like so many things connected to Michael Weinstein and the AHF, their rules and regulations do more harm to the people they are supposed to protect.

Some of other hits on the Michael Weinstein/AHF Douche Bag Playlist include attempting to subpoena porn performers’ medical records, being investigated for the “legitimacy” of their non-profit stats, and enough other scurrilous goings on they required over 2,000 words to properly document. Oh yes, and then he most recently set his sights on Grindr too.

In porn, like in life, timing is everything. After five years, Weinstein will have his way and the condom initiative will be on the California ballot a year from now just weeks after the World Health Organization endorsed PrEP stating “all people at “substantial” risk of HIV should be offered preventive antiretroviral treatment.”

The recent studies that have shown PrEP effectiveness in HIV risk reduction is closing in or at 90% are of no use to Weinstein and the AHF since it doesn’t figure into their narrative of fear. While the World Health organization called it “potent, effective, and necessary” Michael Weinstein calles “PrEP” a, “party drug”.

As we saw with the defeat of the HERO (Houston Equal Rights Ordinance) in Texas and the election of vociferously anti-gay Governor-elect Matt Bevin in Kentucky this past Tuesday, votes count. Not just in this upcoming election … but every election.

Michael Weinstein, do with your penis what you will. Just stop trying what to legislate what the rest of us do with ours.

This guy used to do great things, but now is just an example of what too much power and cash can do to an ego.

Will, my thoughts exactly … like the saying “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Sigh

Weinstein is nothing but a pathetic man who is wasting funds that should be going towards finding a cure for HIV/AIDS and helping those who have it, on nuisance lawsuits and paying for campaigns to legislate the porn industry in CA. Not only has this been harmful to the state by driving business to other states, is there any evidence that his anti porn vendetta is preventing new cases of HIV infection? Until he is removed from his role with the AHF that organization should be cut off from any public funds as they are likely to be misused and abused.

Bravo Seaguy. If only Michael Weinstein would use his powers for good instead of evil!
