Joseph Kerekes pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was immediately sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole. He admitted he knew about and helped murder Cobra Video owner Bryan Kocis in 2007, various news outlets are reporting.

This rather sudden twist comes as somewhat of a shock after what seemed like an endless stream of trial delays and hold ups. Kerekes is avoiding the death penalty by pleading guilty; Harlow Cuadra could still face death if he faces trial and is found guilty of first-degree murder.

The fraud scandal involving Birmingham, Alabama Mayor Larry Langford has grown to entangle gay porn icon Ryan Idol. Langford was arrested Monday on 101 counts of bribery, money laundering, conspiracy and fraud. As details of the charges against him have started to emerge, one fact has caught our attention: Langford apparently wrote checks to Ryan Idol, the Daily Voice is reporting.

It's too early to jump to any conclusions as to what he was paying him for. Langord may have merely been paying Mr. Idol to give him a personal reading from Terrence McNally's play The Ritz, of which Idol starred in the Broadway revival of last year. However, it's particularly ironic, not only because yet another politician possibly paid for the services of an escort with a check, but also because Langford has done some decisively anti-gay things, like refusing to issue a permit for Birmingham's gay pride parade.

Well, today I saw a pic of Tiger Tyson from Pitbull Productions's Take Em Down 3 and saw John McCain. Friends of late porn star Cole Ryder have issued an official press release regarding his passing. Picking up from where we left off yesterday, here’s the conclusion of our two-part interview with Collin O’Neal where Collin gives us insight into his casting process as well as some obstacles working with models who don’t necessarily identify as “gay”.

Where and how do you find your models?

I find my models mainly via gay social networking websites like BigMuscle, Gaydar, and GayRomeo. I met Pedro and Daniel from Sao Paulo and Miami, and Said from Lebanon over the net. There are a few times I meet guys on the street or in clubs like Jacko from Lebanon who I met in a café in Aleppo, a city in Northern Syria and then I met my exclusive Francisco Rey, while he was cleaning the pool of our hotel in the Dominican Republic. I am very shy in person, so it is very hard for me to just walk up to guys and pop the porn question.

Various Miami press outlets are reporting that Hollywood Police Department has placed Michael Verdugo on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation, presumably due to the revelation that he was in gay porn.

Verdugo offered the following comment to WPLG Miami through his attorney: "My client has done nothing wrong. He has served the community of Hollywood with honor and distinction for over 10 years. The only reason someone would criticize my client is that he publicly has a different lifestyle."

Hollywood Police Department refuses to comment on whether being in a sex tape is a violation of police policy until the investigation is over.

Rod 2.0 broke the tragic news that popular Cocodorm model "Lamar" (real name Eric Lamar Turner), died when his car cossed the median of Indiana freeway and hit a semitrailer head-on in a rainstorm.

Tiger Tyson's a scrappy prize-fighter (while on the set for a recent photo shoot, he told me that he grew up fighting and still thinks that it's the second best way to take out your aggressions). To me one of the saddest things about Jean-Daniel Cadinot's death is not so much his relatively young age (64) but the fact that his work has become somewhat unknown to gay audiences in the US for reasons I'm having a hard time understanding. He was a true legend and at the forefront of the field since he started making gay porn 30 years ago.

A teenage runaway, Cadinot studied photography at the prestigious National School of Photography in France. After working for a mainstream French film company, he started directing porn in 1978 -- first as "Tony Dark" and under his real name after 1984.

Much has been written about the Visconti Triplets (née Timari Triplets) thus far but little has been seen (below the waist). Here's the Cliff's Notes version to get you up to speed: Budapest-born Joey, Jimmy and Jason Visconti were discovered by George Duroy who sequestered them for over a year while he trained them to be Bel Ami boys.

Before Duroy released a single scene with them, they left Bel Ami and signed a two-year exclusive contract with the relatively unknown Elite Male Studios -- an offshoot of delightfully low-rent US Male Studios. Bel Ami announced that they'll be releasing a scene with two of the three brothers within the next few weeks online. Elite has filmed a scene with all three but hasn't given a release date.

Jack's post yesterday about Falcon's not-quite-so-new policy of allowing oral cum shots ended causing more consternation than good. We spent the morning talking to directors who thought the decision meant that Falcon was going bareback, gay stars who thought they were going to have to choose between their version of safe sex and Falcon's, and gay studio heads who either shared the Falcon policy or or contested it.

The trouble is, none of this is quite new. As far as gay porn arrests go, this is merely the tip of the iceberg -- Mattias Von Fistenberg and Collin O'Neal were both arrested while filming movies, for example, but I've never been able to track down either mugshot so they're spared from this.

While more than a few studios, including Titan Media and Factory Videos, are shooting on high-definition film, the conventional wisdom that porn is not something you necessarily want to see in that much detail has been one of the reasons that no one has been releasing in HD. The other, of course, is the format wars that have plagued Hollywood, still recovering from it's 80s Betamax hangover. The result has been a good number of films shot in HD, but almost none have actually released titles in it (which is sort of like watching HD programming on a non-HD television).

This week Raging Stallion became the one of the first to take sides and will issue its GayVN-nominated, forty-scene GRUNTS trilogy just as soon as it can figure out pricing. Given that the original six-disc set was one of the industry's highest-priced (and highly coveted) releases, it won't be cheap. Meanwhile, European studio High Octane announced that it would release its latest in HD-DVD, as will Boykakke films. Titan Media's Bruce Cam will be signing his final film and first high-definition film, Breakers, this week in the Castro.

As for those unforgiving high-definition revelations, when you've got a big screen to fill and nothing but Katie Couric's raisin face to look at, I guess you deal with the occasional ingrown hair.

Given that celebrities have become so infantilized that they've stopped saying vagina in favor of pussyfooted vowel combos, you'd think that gay porn itself might be enough to sufficiently shock the media elite. God, sometimes the Religious Right are so predictable. I guessed yesterday's gay porn Folsom Street Poster brouhaha would end up on O'Reilly Factor, but It was on Hannity & Colmes instead. The highlight was when they had this a male spokesman from Concerned Women (snicker!) For America on saying that Folsom Street Fair is "nothing short of a mini Sodom and Gomorrah dressed up as a gay pride event." Ha. Kudos to Sister Roma for being on Fox News twice in one year. She is officially my hero.

In what's sure to end up as talking point on tonight's O'Reilly Factor, Concerned Women for America has called on CA elected officials to publicly condemn the poster for the 2007 Folsom Street Fair -- a parody of the Last Supper with apostle porn stars (Titan Exclusives Tober Brant & Dean Flynn), drag nuns (Sister Roma, natch), and -- gasp! -- a black Jesus (source Towleroad).

While Danny Roddick's death shows that studios can't monitor their stars off-screen behavior, we can at least make sure they do a better job of keeping them safe on-screen. As former bareback twink porn star Aaron Tyler recently claimed, the barebacking studios weren't as concerned. Everyone seems to be focusing on the devastating fire that ripped through legendary "flamming" gay bar Micky's on Tuesday. There were close to a dozen men on set with some relation to the military -- from Brodie Sinclair (also known as Derek Brodie), Victor Steele and new RS exclusive Ricky Sinz, all of whom recently returned from Iraq and Afghanistan, to guys like Mason Garrett and Jake Deckard who practically grew up on base.

The rest of the GRUNTS recruits quickly fell in line -- when gay porn stars like Jake Deckard and Ricky Sinz start unleashing rage-filled drill sergeant tirades, it's hard to pretend you're anywhere other than Fort Bragg or Camp Pendelton. Luckily, the rogue warrior atmospherics carried into the sex, and guys who months ago were fighting for their lives on the ground were now fighting to outdo each other on screen with donkey punches, beer bottle pokes and spit-filled beat-downs.

Pornographers are no stranger to the whims of law enforcement, but two recent incidents on porn sets might give flesh peddlers reason to pause before taking the camera on location. Saturday, Collin O'Neal called from the Dominican Republic where he and cameraperson extraordinaire Mr. Pam were shooting some local color for his World of Men series. A nosy neighbor spied a solo shoot in the backyard of the rental house and informed the authorities who promptly crashed the party. Mr. Pam was taken to the station and her camera and laptop confiscated.

Second, perhaps even more frightening, was a late-night visit from local military brass on the set of Raging Stallion-NakedSword co-production of GRUNTS. The military shoot, at a 100,000 acre ranch on a coastal valley in central California, wasn't nearly secluded enough from prying eyes. It's unclear whether nearby neighbors spotted actual military jeeps going on and off the property, or if the large-M*A*S*H style army base that director Chris Ward built was visible from the air (several Army bases are nearby and the shoots on the set were frequently interrupted by flyovers). The visitors didn't say they were from Homeland Security, but who knows? The gun shots on the property, the twenty-five men marches and the high-voltage electrical consumption would certainly have alerted a casual observer. Maybe it is possible to be too realistic.

In both cases, the objects of the investigation were shaken, but not deterred. Mr. Pam and company were able to escape with some fast talking and some sleight of hand (watch the porn on my camera disappear!) and Raging Stallion director Chris Ward merely pointed out that he was, in fact, shooting porn, not practicing for Ruby Ridge.

Gay porn stars are the frequent "Special Guest Stars" in the whimsical dreams of faggy fashion designers. But his recent work for Bernard Willhelm (a handsome lad himself) is a coup even for a top model, as he's the sole person featured in the designer's Spring/Summer lookbook and even appears in a surrealistically bizarre (even for fashion standards) 12-month calendar which features Sagat fucking what appears to be a Yugo (and getting fucked by what appears to be a bouquet of flowers).

It's one thing that "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" was the top-grossing movie in the US this past weekend -- you could argue that the movie is using humor to take bring very real gay issues to the forefront. Deaths, accidental or otherwise, are quite sad, and Kent North's apparent suicide last Wednesday is no exception. A week of sensationalist detective work online followed, with exigetical readings of the official Hot House press release and various blogs detailing suspected methods and porn-stars-are-sure-unhappy handwringing from the peanut gallery. Whether it was an accidental or purposeful overdose matters little.

Oh, brother ... another week, another gay porn mug shot.

Dandy David Wiles, 29, a Grapevine, Texas hospital tech, was arrested for going on a shopping spree with credit cards he stole from a man who died in the emergency room. Still more shocking evidence is being released this morning from the bombshell 54-page affidavit indicting Harlow Cuadra and Joe Kerekes in the murder of Bryan Kocis.

Citizen's Voice is reporting that investigators used electronic surveillance to record a meeting at a nude beach in San Diego between Cuadra, Kerekes, Brent Corrigan and Grant Roy, where they apparently bragged about killing Kocis. Surveillance transcripts reveal:

-- Cuadra and Kerekes allegedly spoke about the inside of the home and what happened in the moments leading up to the slaying.

-- On the murder of Kocis, Cuadra allegedly said, “It was quick; he never saw it coming ... It almost seems like I got revenge and I know that sounds fucked up.”

-- When Grant Roy asked if Kocis felt any pain, Cuadra allegedly replied, “Don’t worry, he went quick.”

Meanwhile, even more charges against the couple pile up: They have since been charged with conspiracy to violate Virginia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, conspiracy to launder money and conspiracy to receive money from the earnings of male and female prostitution.

Harlow actually posted photos from this nude beach meeting on his blog -- maybe if you look closely enough, you can see feds listening in.

As the details surrounding the investigation of Bryan Kocis' murder emerge, things aren't looking too good for Harlow Cuadra and his Boy Batter partner Joseph Kerekes.

Virginian-Pilot has released details from a 54-page affidavit that spells out the evidence leading up to their arrest as well as the charges against them (in addition to criminal homicide, Cuadra and Kerekes may be facing robbery, burglary, arson, theft, tampering with evidence and conspiracy.)

It's obviously naive to think if you do porn there won't be certain consequences; if you're, say, an elementary school teacher or (in the case of Roman Ragazzi, in politics), you are going to lose your job if and when people find out you fuck men on camera for money.

I came across a site called PrisonStuds.com in the paper the other day. Gay porn producers don't normally view the federal government as allies. In the past year, nearly a dozen adult companies have been subjected to raids by the FBI looking for record-keeping violations. So on Saturday morning when I got an text message from Owen Hawk with a pic featuring US Marshalls outside a run-down XXX store, I suspected the worst. Who would have guessed that they were there as a team?

Hawk and partner Matthias von Fistenberg from Dark Alley Media, along with the boys at Pitbull Productions, raided a series of adult video stores in Times Square (no doubt sandwiched between ESPN Zone and the Disney Store). The stores were selling counterfeit DVDs from studios including Hot House, Falcon, Raging Stallion, Titan and Jet Set.

With all the hullabaloo about file-sharing -- as well as the Orwellian sirens-and-flashing-lights "do not share this DVD" segments at the beginning of certain movies -- it's easy to forget that one of the biggest incursions into gay porn producers sales somes from a guy in a back room with a DVD duplicator. It's a good thing Dark Alley got them this month -- you have to wonder if the US Marshalls are going to be as sympathetic when Gaytanamo comes out.

(Note: Michael Lucas has informed me that his company -- Lucas Entertainment -- was actually behind the legal dispute that led to the raid. Due to the contentious relationship and competiting claims between the companies involved, I can't say who's right but felt I should note it.)

The murder of Cobra Video kingpin Bryan Kocis has left police scratching their heads almost two weeks after his charred remains were discovered. Their one lead may have just gone cold, too: The man police wanted to question in connection to the slaying -- an escort from Norfolk, VA, named Harlow -- may have an alibi.

Last week police recovered an email from Kocis' hard drive where he said he would be meeting with a potential model the night of his murder. A picture of the model was released and he was quickly identified as Harlow from NorfolkMaleEscorts.com (where he's billed as a "stud wonder"). He also appears on the amateur site BoyBatter.com.

A Pennsylvania paper is reporting that Harlow claims to have never met Kocis, is "freaked out" that his image is being linked to the murder, and alleged that somebody is "playing a sick joke or something.”

The charred remains of Bryan Charles Kocis were identified by Pennsylvania authorities earlier today and a formal murder investigation has begun. An autopsy revealed that he was stabbed to death. They believe that his house was intentionally set on fire to cover up the murder and his remains had to be identified by dental records, several PA newspapers are reporting.

No formal suspects have been named, but Citizen's Voice is reporting that police have questioned three California men he was involved in a "business dispute" with, one of which presumably is Sean Lockhart.

Kocis, 44, was best known for his complicated ongoing legal battle with Lockhart, better known as gay porn star Brent Corrigan, 21. Jason Curious is reporting that the two were seen hugging at Krave in Las Vegas earlier this month and that they had finally reached a settlement to their legal dispute that would have involved them working together again.

Tweaker.org, the tell-it-like-it-is San Francisco-based anti-crystal meth concern unveiled their ad latest campaign featuring gay porn stars Parker Williams, Matt Cole, Matthew Rush, Michael Brandon, Derrick Hanson, Jay Black and Tom Lazzari.

But they're not the only ones to take a stand against meth. Spencer Quest released a statement via email last week from rehab, where he has 9 weeks left on a 90-day program to treat his crystal habit.

“I finally accepted, the week before Christmas, that my meth use had become out-of-control. And while I've struggled with various addictions all my life and have been able to handle them, even stop them in their tracks, crystal meth got the best of me. And I nearly killed myself. Intentionally.”

The GAYVN Awards -- the closest the gay porn industry has to the Oscars -- were announced late yesterday to little fanfare (most likely because everyone is at the AVN Expo in Vegas but lil old me...)

As expected, Lucas Entertainment's La Dolce Vita was the most nominated with a total of 14. Buckshot Productions's Big Rig, Falcon's Velvet Mafia and Hot House's Justice were tied with 12 noms each.

COLT Studio Group garnered the most nominations -- 24 total -- with Channel 1 Releasing coming in a close second with 20.

Really, no shockers here ... unless you take the time to think about a few really glaringly ovbvious omissions in the lot ...

The awards will be held on February 24th, and for the first time they're being in San Francisco, at the Castro Theater -- smack dab in the heart of Gayville.

Just as almost every major gay porn studio will garner a nod when the GayVN Award nominations for gay porn come out later this month (last year featured roughly thirty categories with ten to twelve nominees in each), so do the inevitable year end lists. ManNet's Butch Harris came out with his today ("The 100 Best Videos of 2006") and nearly every studio came out with a press release detailing their accomplishments. Good for them.

It takes a lot of work to produce as many gay porn movies as the industry does and it's hard to keep a up enthusiasm and quality when you're shooting three movies a month. There were plenty of great movies on Butch's list, but it's hard for porn lovers to sort through. Want something a little more manageable? Try NakedSword's Hit List. Legendary director Matt Sterling and porn star/director Andy Dill both died yesterday.

Matt Sterling -- considered to be one of the founders of the gay porn industry, having directed some of the first gay porn "loops" for his own Brentwood Studios, along with best-selling pre-condom classics like The Bigger The Better -- died after an 18-year bout with a neurological disease that caused him to be wheelchair-bound for the last several years of his life.

Andy Dill, 38, died very suddenly from meningitis. He starred in about twenty films for Raging Stallion, Titan and MSR before going on to start Dill Media, where he produced and directed "Bedrock" and several websites focused on red-headed guys. He was most recently named Vice President of Bear Films.

Seems the timing on yesterday's entry wasn't that off. Christmas came early this year for porn fans in South Florida who were treated to a rare four nights of live performances by Lucas Ridgeston at the Boardwark in Ft. Lauderdale.

Fabscout Agent Howard Marr, who set up the event, gushed, "He was the sweetest, most charming and unassuming guy I have met in a while."

I distinctly remember being rendered speechless when I met Cool Blue at San Francisco Gay Pride two years ago as well.

I've always purported that Bel Ami demi-god Lucas Ridgeston was the most movie-star handsome of all his gay porn brethren, which is why I was excited (but not the least bit surprised) to discover that he appears -- somewhat Clark Kent-ified -- on the cover of the Scissor Sisters' new(ish) album Ta-Dah.

It all makes perfect sense, right? After all, it was Lucas and Scissor Sister's ultra-fruity front man Jake Shears who were seen canoodling at Sir Elton's after-Oscar bash last year.

The album was released in September so admittedly this is not exactly late-breaking news. However, frequent readers of this blog should know Bel Ami cross-over success stories give me a hard-on almost as quickly as Lucas in Love does.

Marcus Allen/Timothy Boham was arrested on suspicion of murder while trying to flee to Mexico earlier today (in an ending that eerily echos that of Wash West's porn fiction feature The Fluffer.)

The picture of Boham that emerges in the wake of his arrest suggests a deeply troubled man who was struggling with his sexuality -- and temper.

Although he was a fairly well-known porn star (he starred in over a dozen movies over the past few years, and was named "Freshman of the Year" by Freshman Magazine in 2003), he was a gun-collecting, homophobic straight man when away from the gay porn spotlight. Denver Post reports:

... Boham told Lara Holland, who lived in a Denver mansion on High Street in an apartment a floor below Boham, that he "sanitized" his apartment by thoroughly scrubbing it because a gay man had lived there previously, she said.

"He hated (gays)," she said. "He hated their lifestyle."

Gay-for-pay porn star Marcus Allen -- (who appeared in Through The Woods, among others) is the primary suspect in the murder case of John P. Kelso, his boss and president of a Denver financial company.

Rocky Mountain News is reporting that Allen (real name Timothy J. Bohan, aged 25,) is considered armed and dangerous and may have fled the state (but no mention of his gay porn past ... yet).

The former Studio 2000 exclusive was featured in this year's Playgirl Magazine "Campus Hunks" issue, under the name "John".

I've gotten a few emails from readers asking why -- despite my morbid fascination with dead porn stars -- I haven't mentioned the missing-turned-dead American strippers whose bodies were found in a quarry in Montreal last month.

Reaching deep into his acting reserves, megawatt muscle-stud Jason Adonis has signed a deal to bottom in Jet Set Production's newest release. The filming has yet to commence and we're holding our breath hoping the straight stud won't 'back' out. But we're sending rosebuds just the same.

Adonis has had a tumultous rise to fame after being discovered by then Jet Set President Brett Drysdale. The hulking behemoth went on to star in a series of high-profile Jet Set releases, including Wash West's The Hole and American Porn Star before being whisked away as a Lifetime Exclusive by Falcon Studios for the best-selling and mile-high Taking Flight.

His exclusive contract didn't last a lifetime however and Adonis was soon a free agent again. Gay porn awards are, themselves, a rather dubious distinction. Imagine how many guffaws I get when you I tell people I've won a GayVN for Best Screenplay. Not to mention trying to tell them you're nominated for a Grabby. Pornographers can't get no respect.

Legendary gay porn studio All Worlds Video is giving away $20,000 -- and the gay porn stars are flocking like moths to a flame. And who wouldn't? A "mega orgy" at the glorious All Worlds Resort in Palm Springs, filmed by eight cameramen being followed by six directors? It's outrageous! (Truth be told, All Worlds Video does multiple directors/cameramen in its popular Porn Struck series - sans prize.)

So far, over 40 gay porn stars have signed up for the massive gay porn gang bang. But the $20,000 dollar prize isn't performance based -- it's random. The drawing will be held at the end of the shoot, but with 40 porn stars vying for the prize -- and only one lucky winner -- I fear there maybe some bloodshed before the day is over.

Boy George was so entranced by Mike's interview with Johnny Hazzard that he snatched him up and threw him on the runway to model his new clothing line B-Rude last night, stunning the fashionistas at Fashion Week in NY. OK, I kid. I'm sure Hazzard's appearance was planned well in advance of our interview, but this certainly isn't the first time that a gay porn star has graced a high-fashion runway.

Jeff Stryker did runway for Thierry Mugler years ago. Mark Dalton modeled underwear for Raymond Dragon, ( Mister Dragon is no stranger to porn), and lest we forget John Bartlett got (straight) male model Brad Kroenig to pretend he was a porn star and drop trou on his runway last year. Jeremy Penn modeled for the short-lived Tom of Finland Clothing line (that is, clothes inspired by the legendary porn artiste - click on the previous link for a picture of Mr. Penn looking tough), and maybe also A&F, but don't, like, quote me on that.

I even spied Marcus Iron on the runway last year for SF-based menswear designer D. Romero. Oh, and of course Michael Lucas started his career doing runway and print in Europe before he defected to the US. I mean, it makes sense: Porn stars have nice bodies and, well, most fashion designers are big nelly queens anyway.

As mounting DNA evidence suggests that Bradford Thomas Wagner, a 36-year-old Colorado real estate agent, may be a serial rapist, the Aspen Daily News made the connection that he was the gay porn star Tim Barnett.

Given the general public's predilection towards gay porn stars, I can't imagine this revelation helping his case much.

In the 90s, Barnett was in a bunch of films, including Billy's Tale, for Falcon and Dynastud 2 for HIS.

Well, another Folsom Fair has come and gone. Spoke to my friend, Cedar in Portland, and out of the 20 years they have produced it, this is the first Folsom Fair he's missed. I missed the very first one, but I've been to 19 of the 20. At prior Folsom Fairs, I have run my own booth a couple times, run booths for other organizations a couple times, videotaped the event several times, shot B-roll for a porno once, and threw 4 or 5 fan-tabulous after-parties.

Ran into Hot House porn star Corey Jay. He just moved back in town to go back to school (forgot what he is going to study...)

Had coffee with Drew Warner on Saturday, then ran into him on Sunday at the Fair hanging with Falcon's Matthew Rush (sorry, no picture).

My red head pal, Brian Shawn, used to do movies for Al Parker (as Brain DePaul), Video 10, Redboard, and several others. I've known him for about 12 years, and he suddenly grew into this enormous muscle stud and now goes by the name Tom Lord. He wants do more movies, so I better grab him quick!

I also ran into those adorable Cornfed Boys, Matt and Nate, from Seattle. I would love to be the bologna in that sandwich! I told Matt that I wanted to steal his idea from their first movie where he jacked off under a black light with florescent paint.

Hot House had a big weekend, too. I ran into them at trade show on Friday morning, at the Castro Gulch while I was hanging with Drew, at the Folsom Fair, and even at the Falcon party on Friday night.

Oh, and before I forget (and before everyone forgets her) I got to meet Mary Carey on Friday, the porn star girl running for governor.

Speaking of the Falcon party, it was big bash for their new two-part release "Drenched", shot in Hawaii, so naturally it was a Hawaiian theme with all the boys in loin cloths.

I flirted with Alex LeMonde, whom I met in Vegas back in January. Flawless abs, and that French accent makes me melt.

Chase Hunter, the star of Drenched, was featured in this movie, as it is his return to the business. Apparently, the only thing preventing him from doing movies all these years was a jealous boyfriend, which he no longer has to contend with.

Wow! What a weekend, and the Castro Street Fair is only a few days away!

I spent all weekend wishing I was in Chicago for International Mr. Leather. It seems that every year the event generates even more buzz, so it's on my list for next year, come hell or high water (whatever that means...)

May 8-9

I am writing this on yet another plane, this time coming home from LA where I attended the GayVN Awards.

Unlike the lavish award shows of the past few years, this year it was a scaled down affair for about 75 industry insiders. And when I say "insiders", it was so exclusive you couldn't get in without an invite no matter who you bribed or blew. Only nominees and judges were invited - no agents, handlers, significant others, personal shoppers, therapists, nor sugar daddies were allowed.

I arrived in my powder blue polyester John Travolta suit and vintage Hawaiian shirt ready for some major schmoozing. Ran into Matt Sizemore on the sidewalk on his way to Cocktails With the Stars at Mickeys. The GayVN's were just a few doors down at Rage. Too bad there was a time conflict, I would love to have attended both.

I'm going to try to recall as many names as possible, even ones I didn't speak to, but believe it or not, I spoke to almost everyone because it was really an intimate affair with a manageable number of people.

Our host, Jeremy Spencer (the gay/bi editor at AVN) gave me a big hug as I entered. His boss, AVN owner Paul Fishbein was there watching over things.

My old friend from years ago, Terry Mahaffy came in right behind me. He's now the acting-President of Falcon Studios, and still looking pretty fine.

Next I said hi to my SF homeboys from Raging Stallion - Chris Ward, J.D. Slater, Micheal Soldier, and Michael Brandon.

Got a hug from Chi Chi LaRue. She still greets me everytime with, "You old tired thing, you." (I don't think she remembers my name...)

Said hi to Paul Baressi and thanked him for the interview last week. Later on in the evening he tried to convince me that I should line up 8 bear-ish looking guys and a location in the Bay Area for him to shoot a movie. Sorry Paul, if I wanted to go through that much work, I'd shoot it myself. I just wanted to get next to someone who's had sex with John Travolta, and probably did it while wearing my blue suit 25 years ago.

Billy Masters ran up and gave me a big hug, gushing about how much he enjoyed my story about his brunch last Sunday in Palm Springs. He's a good person to know, I wanna keep in touch with him.

I was thrilled to see Drew Warner, I feel like he's one of my closest pals in the industry. I admire his air of confidence and that deep sexy voice just melts me.

About this time I took a chance and walked up to a stranger that I thought I recognized. As I approached, it was clear that he recognized me, too. I asked him, "Are you from Oakland?" He immediately replied with an enthusiastic, "Golds Gym!"

The story goes, last month I received a copy of Blue Blake's video "Hard As Rock" whcih was coincidently shot by Drew Warner. The cover guy was Scott Gunz, Blue's latest hot bodybuilder discovery, who made a big sensation in the press when it came out.

I'd seen this guy at the gym a few times, but a few weeks ago I saw him again and noticed a resemblance to the guy in the video. I dismissed the thought that they were the same person because, "the guy in the video is so much taller". Scott got a big kick out of that. We had some laughs, and he ended up sitting next to me during dinner and the awards. A dream come true.

I had a nice chat with TLA Video, also saw Gino Colbert, Thor, Blake Harper, Colton Ford, Michael Lucas, Chad Hunt (Michael and Chad were just on Ricki Lake), Bret Wolfe, Rod Barry, and so many others!

I also realized there are industry insiders, and there are then there are Industry Insiders. After all that hoopla about "only judges and nominees" being allowed in, how did Morgan and Tim from Cybersocket and Karl from Bedfellow get in? Hmmm. They're my pals and super-sweet, I was really glad to see them. They're soon the be the new powerbrokers in this industry.

Earlier that day I read Mickey Skee's scathing article in one of the local rags complaining about choices for the Hall of Fame. I won't repeat it for fear of fanning the fire further. (Got alliteration?)

For the awards presentation I sat right up front between Drew Warner and Scott Gunz (my bodyguards). Chi Chi bagan her hosting duties walking through the crowd acknowledging each director or studio head and reminding us what a wonderful industry we have and how we should all work together in solidarity. And why not? They've all slept with each other already.

The award presentation zipped by at lightning speed. At the last minute I pulled out a pen to take notes on a napkin, and Drew decided to do the same so he could give the info to J.C. Adams for his column in Inside Porn. They were calling names and categories faster than I could write, but it was even more difficult cause Drew was sharing my pen. Thank god he was there to repeat things for me.

I had one more peak experience after the show which, by itself, would have made the trip worthwhile. Super-agent David Forest probably wouldn't have been able to attend this scaled down affair (there would have been hell to pay), but luckily he was nominated for Best Non-Sex Performance in "Brad's Buddies" (based on his life story). After the show, he was standing with none other than Mark Dalton. Ohmygod, I've turned into a swooning schoolgirl! Mark Dalton!

He was standing there in a cut-off black tshirt, showing his fabulous abs, and the shirt said, "Fuck me. I'm famous." Rarely does anyone wearing those kind of slogans actually pull it off. He did. I would. We know.

I haven't even finished writing about last weekend, and I leave for LA in an hour for the GayVN Awards (the gay porn video awards, to which I was a judge).

As soon as I get back Friday I jump in the car and head for a retreat down the coast.

Mucho updates on Monday!

The day of the actual Bad Boys Pool Party finally arrived Saturday, starting with brunch at the Villa Resort. It was hosted by Filth2Go's Billy Masters, celebrity insider and close friend of Joan Rivers, et al. (Billy's cousin is Catherine Oxenberg of Dynasty and The Colby's. She's a distant relation to Princess Diana, which allows Billy to accurately trace how many steps he is away from REALLY being a queen. But I digress.)

I sat with Chuck (the first photo is Billy and Chuck.), the promotions guy from Falcon who brought along a two friends he just met the night before. One was named P.K. (an even larger version of Anna Nicole Smith) who's business card said, " Decorum Observed, Parties Crashed, Ears Licked, Orgies Consulted, Decadence Revered, Bars Hopped, Feasts Catered, Ankles Nibbled, Pets Stroked, and Unicorns Bred". She was a hoot.

The party started with a bang. I spent the entire day carrying the video camera, trying to be in 3 places at once. There was so much eye candy, no matter where I went, I needed to be shooting something else at the same time. Nudity was everywhere, the men were gorgeous and flirty, I was beside myself.

I missed all the performances on stage because I was interviewing porn legends Paul Barressi, Robert Black, Jason Branch and Rik Jammer. Those interviews will be shown as part of NakedSword's Weekly Report. I also shot enough material to compile an 8 minute video segment ala Entertainment Tonight. (Stay tuned for links to those videos.)

A new gimmick launched this year that I really enjoyed was when the beefier porn stars took turns doing erotic pose-downs. They had a weight bench and some dumbells for the guys to pump up, flex, pose, stretch, strip, and even a bit of wanking (no money shots allowed, though.)
