2008 Grabby Noms

The 2008 Grabby nominations have been leaked to TheSword.com. Like Bette Milder, The Grabbys got their start in a bathhouse, but they've since moved on to tonier digs. Dubbed the "People's Choice" of gay porn awards, the Grabbys used to differentiate themselves from the GAYVNs by being the "fan-oriented" one as it was open to the public (although both events are now open to the public and since neither allows fans to vote, the metaphor sort of falls apart.)
Grabby categories and noms are a tad less tedious than the GAYVNs, although they are by no means free from the absurd ("Hottest Bottom" always makes me chuckle), or free from controversy; Michael Lucas' lack of screener submissions led to his movies being omitted for the consideration in the awards.
More shocking perhaps is the fact that my star-turn in Falcon's Dare has been overlooked for Best Non-Sexual Performance yet again. (Was I THAT bad? OK, please don't answer that).

No, Jack, you were great in DARE, but who could take their eyes off Lou Cass? lol
More shocking perhaps, was DARE's lack of nominations for Best Screenplay, Best Director and Best Video.
But I digress...

Posted by: Jett Blakk at March 14, 2008 8:28 AMHottest Bottom does make me chuckle... but I still hope I win it. Perhaps just for that reason. My mom would be so proud!
Posted by: steve cruz at March 14, 2008 8:51 AMThe GRABBYS are a blast! Low key and entertaining. It could be a little shorter but that could be said of all award shows.
Who needs Michael Lucas there anyway? Save that attitude (and anti-semitism) for the East Coast.
His overproduced videos are boring anyway. There is maybe one good one out of 5 released.
If Chad Hunt wasn't in them I wouldn't even bother.
Posted by: ChicagoCub at March 14, 2008 12:28 PMYes, Jett, I agree you were robbed. There always end up being a lot of strange omissions (Off the top of my head -- not a single nod to Francois Sagat?), but I guess there's bound to be stuff like this every year ...
ChigagoCub, not sure I really get who or what you're implying is anti-semitic.

Posted by: Jack at March 14, 2008 1:25 PMI misspoke - he's anti-Islam not anti-semetic. (see the previous entry on this site) I knew he was anti-something. Anyway - keep it in NYC. :)
I think INK STORM should win best picture. HOT!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: who should win? at March 19, 2008 8:33 AMJack: In Dare, you lived just long enough to introduce the film's MacGuffin, which was that stuffed teddy bear, and then get murdered. You know it would have been neat if instead of dying, you and Lou Cass and just gone to McDonalds and eaten some Egg MacGuffins with extra orders of hash browns. But then there wouldn't have been much of a movie. See, you are important!

Is Jason Ridge nominated? Hope not. His new movies and studio are so over-rated. I thought they would be better. But bring on Erik Rhodes, now he is a star.
