Gay Porn News: Michael Lucas Dead?
In what's sure the first of flurry of press for his upcoming Gigolo movie, Lucas Entertainment Press Machine released the following image with the following headline, and we'll play along (despite some other bloggers taste concerns):
Michael Lucas found dead in Manhattan apartment
Authorities released the photo below of the crime scene.

(Tres considerate of the authorities to watermark the image for him!)
Is being murdered in a porn the new black? I was murdered two weeks ago by porn legend Lou Cass for Falcon's upcoming Dare. I'll be giving the blow-by-blow here soon (Spook houses! Stabbing! Fried dough!), but the morbidly curious and impatient can read all about it in director Jett Blakk's extremely entertaining and detailed blog recap.

Wow, I didn't realize you could overdose on Botox! I guess I had better cut back and only do my eyes and not my entire face like Michael! (G)
He took his pout to the afterlife.
Posted by: Trout Pout at October 3, 2007 2:07 PMWow, this is in very poor taste indeed. But for Mr. Lucas, there's no such thing as bad publicity (but what do you expect from an attention whore?).
Posted by: J² at October 3, 2007 4:12 PMCan there be such a thing as "bad taste" when promoting a gay porn movie? Seriously -- lighten up people.
Posted by: josh at October 3, 2007 4:29 PMIf he had been strangled, his tongue would be sticking out. No, I'm afraid our Mr. Lucas died of spinal collapse crushed by a swollen ego.
Posted by: Salami Joe at October 3, 2007 5:11 PMYeah, poor taste exists in all areas of life, including gay porn. I'm all for kinky sex, but is the mainstream really ready to embrace *murder* as an object of eroticism?
Posted by: Anonymoose at October 3, 2007 6:10 PMI hate to tell you this but, when a body isn't good and dead (heard this from a mortician) it can still be moving around. This might be legal tender to make sure it doesn't.
Posted by: tralala at October 3, 2007 9:55 PMUgh. I can't stand his politics. Or, rather, I should say that I can't stand his attitude that he is always right. But, I generally put up with him because he has the right to say what he wants.
BUT...this little PR stunt is ill-conceived, at best. Connecting porn with murder is just plain wrong.
Posted by: alex at October 3, 2007 11:45 PMThese photos were the subject of a Law and Order: Criminal Intent episode (photographer who took photos of women in death-type photos). If it were art, it might be a different story. As a public relation stunt and the fact the photos aren't very well done, it is just something that warrants an eye roll.
Posted by: CamrnCrz1974 at October 4, 2007 12:20 AMI imagine the list of suspects would be staggering!
Posted by: at October 4, 2007 12:24 AMHas anyone checked Chi Chi LaRue for an alibi?
Posted by: Salami Joe at October 4, 2007 7:36 AMLooks like someone was watching cycle 8 of America's Next Top Model and got some inspiration...
Posted by: Chuck at October 4, 2007 10:20 AMVery poor taste, especially with people still remembering Danny Roddick and getting over that tragedy.
Posted by: TC at October 4, 2007 11:14 AMCheck out Parents of Murdered Children (and Other Survivors of Homicide)'s campaign: Murder Is Not Entertainment (MINE).
Posted by: Pro-Good at October 4, 2007 8:12 PMPro-Good,
"Murder is not entertainment."? Are you serious? Perhaps you think it ought not be but - it certainly IS.
How is what Lucas is doing different than an episode of Law & Order or any other vacuous television police drama? Is it the gay angle? Well, if he's a gay man making a story about a gay man who is murdered well...
God help me that have to side with Lucas on any point but really - lighten up.
Your misplaced outrage gives this silliness a gravitas it doesn't warrant.
We have some big political battles coming up in '08. Let's not fret over this nonsense and instead save our energy for those.
Posted by: face_in_the_crowd at October 5, 2007 12:44 AMHe is an Artsy Fartsy Jerk. IMHO.
Posted by: Carl at October 5, 2007 10:44 AMThankgod somebody finally got rid of that tasteless, low-class parasite. Can we arrange a medal for the murderer?
Posted by: fred at October 5, 2007 12:01 PM"Artsy Fartsy?"
Did a GAY person actually use that phrase?
Heaven help us!
Posted by: at October 5, 2007 10:34 PMOh puhleeez, can we talk about poor taste??? I see that is has worked for pop music star Madonna (poor taste is her trademark) and fashion mogul Calvin Klein too. So don't be raggin' on Michael Lucas just because he's following in the other media whore's footsteps.
Apparently poor taste is the only way you can get people to pay attention these days.
Posted by: mediapusher at October 6, 2007 3:29 AMThis is not in bad taste...it's just bad...could have been an interesting pr stunt but it was ill-conceived and poorly carried out. To 'retract' within 24hours was ridiculous. Poor planning and carelessly carried out. Fire the marketing and/or pr staff. Sloppy 'work' from someone who would never appear sloppy in public...whats up with that?
