Porn filming reaches a fever pitch in the summer months; long, sunny days and nude-friendly temperatures make it ideal for shooting the de riguer two-part epics that studios release each fall and winter. The massive mobilization of crews (as well as the extra space available on additional discs) allows studios to get creative with their behind-the-scenes content.

"Making of" videos are rarely as hot as the movies themselves. Buckshot's Xposed, the making of the mega-hit Buckleroos was charming and swept film festivals; the extras with Dangerous Liaisons were glamorous and celeb-filled, but neither was quite jerk-off material. It wasn't until I watched Raging Stallion's Paradise Exposed that I realized that the behind-the-scenes could be as erotic as the actual behinds.

Paradise Exposed doesn't shy away from hardcore content. It's the making of a porno and like Raging Stallion's other featurettes Plexus Hardcore and the Making of Arabesque, it shows nitty gritty issues like performance anxiety alongside the hardcore action of the final video.

When I was on set for the Making of Arabesque, I found that the erotic was intensified, rather than diffused by seemingly mundane production issues. Knowing that Joey Russo was crushed out on Colin West or that Rod Barry is a molestory pervert by nature (on the set of Wet Palms), made the sex -- warts and all -- that much more real. Black in Back: Dark Alley and Pitbull's The Show

A perverted Bruce Wayne-esque billionaire hosts a sex-based audition for his newest plaything. New York City-based Dark Alley Media and Pitbull Productions' inaugural joint effort The Show (Part 1) is a tongue-in-ass riff on reality television that revels in the sexiness Black and Latino actors without resorting to clumsy race cliches.

Gay Porn "Ringleader" Charged

Pfc. Wesley K. Mitten, third member of the 82nd Airborne Division plead guilty to sodomy, conduct detrimental to the Army and using cocaine, and was sentenced to three months in military prison today for his involvement with Dink Flamingo and ActiveDuty.com, Fayetteville Online is reporting this morning.

Rediscovering Fratmen.TV

Fratmen.TV had (most unfortunately) fallen off my radar, despite holding the distinct honor of being the first amateur gay porn site I ever visited, and being a long-time favorite. Lucas' Heated Encounters

There are few things better than getting stuck in a porn rut. Rather than having to fast forward through unrewarding scene after unrewarding scene, porn ruts allow the all-to-rare erotic rewind: the same movie gets you hot over and over. I was crazy about "Dorm Room Education," a scene in director Tony Dimarco's first Encounters disk (Heat of the Night) for Lucas Entertainment earlier this year. The follow-up is no exception, and like its predecessor there's one scene that I can't stop watching.

"On the DL" follows a similar script as did the original Encounters' "Dorm Room Education" -- low lights, sexually awkward interaction and unconventionally attractive men having riveting sex. There's little glamour and even less explanation when boyish Adam Young drops by unshorn Wilson Vasquez's New York walk-up looking for a couch on which to crash. Wilson goes to sleep, but when Adam finds some (straight) porn to cure his boredom, he wakes his host. What follows is an uneasy dance between two minor acquaintances (their relationship isn't explained, but it's barely social -- like your little brother's friend). Their eyes focus on the straight porn even as their hands move into less familiar territory.

As with "Dorm Room Education," "On the DL" doesn't spend laborious amounts of time on endless close-ups of brightly lit penetration. It's there and the guys are fucking, but DiMarco spends a good deal of time capturing the smaller moves and subtler negotiations of desire that make real encounters so hot. It's a phenomenal scene that's keeping the waterfall of new porn I receive at bay for another week.

Admittedly, we've been lax in reporting on the on-going government investigation and legal brouhaha surrounding the soldiers of the 82nd Airborne who appeared in Dink Flamingo's Active Duty productions since the story broke in January in part because it's so baffling.

Since the investigation started, seven enlisted paratroopers have been charged and two have pleaded guilty to sodomy and drug-related charges, each facing up to three months of jail time. While that's sort of fucked up to being with, it just gets more twisted ...

In the most-recent issue of gay-vague bible, Details, Brit scribe Mark Simpson (who incidentally claims to have invented the term "metrosexual") chronicles his account from two years ago when he was reporting on the set of a Dink Flamingo production and actually was goaded by Dink to join in and have a threeway with two Marines ("Show us your uncut English cock!"). Fleshbot reports that the scene ended up on Active Duty's "Call of Duty".

The piece, while sadly lacking in any scintillating pictures, is a good read as he tries to answer some of the probing questions that have been bugging me since I first saw a Dirk Yates movie. Like: "How the fuck do you get two Jarheads to fuck on camera?" (by appealing to their vanity, apparently) and "What kind of person is Dink like?" (queer as a three-dollar bill, in his early thirties, and filthy rich). Brouhaha notwithstanding, Dink's movies remain pretty incredible as objects in-and-of themselves within the pantheon of amateur military gay porn.
