Gay Porn Shoot: Raging Stallion's Arabesque
With our military and cultural focus on Iraq, it's not surprising that Americans fetishize Arab men. But it is surprising that -- short of Abu Graib -- no one's shot an Arab gay porn. Until now.
Raging Stallion has never been a prude porn studio (director -- and once fisting top porn star -- Chris Ward helped pioneer hardcore fetish films at Hot House and later manned Falcon's Mustang line) and it's often inventive. But in between the fists of fury and the hardcore fucking, Ward is wont to throw in a love story, or intimations of a drama. In his latest film Arabesque (ahh, the joys of living language: the title refers not to the classic ballet position but a neologic attempt at "Arab-ish"), Ward revisits the 1920s Hollywood of Rudy Valentino.
The cast is not Arab -- Raging Stallion Exclusive Hussein is a Turk, and that's as close as it gets -- but with a lot of sun and a few Latinos and an Indian, Ward gets the gist, at least of 1920s Hollywood.
I was on the Arabesque set this weekend as they prepared for an orgy set in an Arab marketplace. Color my bunker busted.

Porn Podcasts Hit It Big
Props, yo, to my homegirl Violet Blue, who was recently (and somewhat surprisingly) profiled on the front page of the Wall Street Journal's Marketplace section because her podcast, Open Source Sex, is (and somewhat not surprisingly) one of the most-downloaded shows on the iTunes podcast directory. MSNBC.com followed suit and ran a similar story.
Before the weekend started, her show was ranked #11 on iTunes, but with all the publicity, Open Source Sex is now ranked #6, #5, #4 #3 (above CNN and the WSJ), which is thrilling for me, too as I was a guest on episode #9, talking shit on a variety of topics. Lazy Bear Weekend
I spent the weekend in California's famed Russian River, dodging aggressive stares from naked bears at Lazy Bear Weekend. Tim Barnett Suicide

I found these paragraphs from said article to be particularly eerie:
On Wednesday, police received lab results from the CBI linking Wagner to the four sexual assaults that occurred in and around the Tantra Lake apartment complex in Boulder. It at least one of the rapes, the suspect wore a stocking mask and surgical gloves and was armed with a weapon.
The suspect in the apartment rapes was described as a white man in his mid- to late-20s, about 5-foot-8, with a medium build and short brown hair. The suspect had no noticeable accent and sounded well-educated. The attacker also smelled of cigarette smoke, according to several of the women who were raped.

Gay Porn Review: Skuff III
I'll admit it. It's hard for me to get off to porn if I know the actors involved. There are exceptions, of course, but I'm often distracted by my feelings for the actor. Is he whiny? Limp. Does he pester me? Fast-forward. It's hard to enjoy the fantasy when you know the reality. It's a testament to the skill of a great director when I can forget the rest and watch them fuck.
With Skuff III, Hot House director Steven Scarborough has done it: I was able to jerk off watching Jason Ridge. Now don't get me wrong. I love Jason. He's terribly sweet, drop dead gorgeous and hot as fuck. But I know him. We spent weeks together filming Wet Palms. Is it horrible to say I love him like a brother?
But there's pretty-boy Jason on the cover of Skuff III: Downright Wrong, with a bicep the size of a softball and a faceful of scruff. I lick my lips. The next thing you know, I'm watching Jason get face-fucked by Christoph Scarff in a gas mask and loving it! Christoph and Collin O'Neal abuse the fuck out of him and is eating it up. He's got kneepads on, the whore!
Of course, the scene itself is a visual marvel. Scarborough sets up some amazing shots -- a three-person daisy chain, a face-full of bootwater -- and gets one of best group performances so far this year. The boys go crazy in the scene and I don't doubt there enthusiasm for even one second.
Skuff III is Scarborough at the top of his game. He, like Chi Chi LaRue, has a real knack for getting great performances out of his men. And like COLT director Kristofer Weston, he has a keen eye for communicating the subtleties of good sub/dom play. The scenes are fresh and inventive, his shots are crisp and quick. People roll there eyes when you talk about good lighting (or music) in porn, but it's essential. I mean, it's a visual medium folks. The actors need to look good and Steven makes them look terrific. The fantasy is back.

Just like the man himself, the interview proved controversial and polarizing. Dark Alley Pitches for Pervert Porn
I was still feeling nautical after cruising Will Clark's Bad Boys on the Hudson, so I stopped by Owen Hawk's lower Manhattan apartment. Hawk, the star of Dark Alley Media's acclaimed sailor flick, Mutiny, and director Mattias Von Fistenberg and I watched a TiVo'd episode of the unacclaimed E! series, Fight for Fame. Brad Benton (using the name Dylan Vox) seemed to annoy the judges to no end, but I found the antics of this deviant endlessly amusing. He was a real bad boy, minus the bad.
Dark Alley Media, the gay porn company the Hawk started with Von Fistenberg and porn star Tim Rusty, has quickly become one of my favorite studios. Their first video, Mutiny: Shipmates' Revenge is incredibly hot and really smart and funny. Too often porn is laborious to watch; even if the sex is hot, the connecting material is earnest, humorless muck. Porn doesn't need to be funny, but it needs to be fun. In both Mutiny and Owen Hawk: Unleashed (preview at NakedSword.com), Dark Alley puts tongue-in-cheek as often as it does tongue-in-ass, adding spice to the surprisingly staid porn genre (It's porn for chrissakes! Is it too much to ask for a bit of scandal and a sense of humor?)
But the boys at Dark Alley aren't all fun and no play. When they guys aren't cruising South Street Seaport or fist fucking new recruits, they sponsor the New York softball team Rage, helping raise money for AIDS. In addition to serving up shots, the boys hand out their porn to the pitchers and catchers holed up at the Dark Alley dugout.
