Folsom Street Fair
Well, another Folsom Fair has come and gone. Spoke to my friend, Cedar in Portland, and out of the 20 years they have produced it, this is the first Folsom Fair he's missed. I missed the very first one, but I've been to 19 of the 20. At prior Folsom Fairs, I have run my own booth a couple times, run booths for other organizations a couple times, videotaped the event several times, shot B-roll for a porno once, and threw 4 or 5 fan-tabulous after-parties.
Ran into Hot House porn star Corey Jay. He just moved back in town to go back to school (forgot what he is going to study...)
Had coffee with Drew Warner on Saturday, then ran into him on Sunday at the Fair hanging with Falcon's Matthew Rush (sorry, no picture).
My red head pal, Brian Shawn, used to do movies for Al Parker (as Brain DePaul), Video 10, Redboard, and several others. I've known him for about 12 years, and he suddenly grew into this enormous muscle stud and now goes by the name Tom Lord. He wants do more movies, so I better grab him quick!
I also ran into those adorable Cornfed Boys, Matt and Nate, from Seattle. I would love to be the bologna in that sandwich! I told Matt that I wanted to steal his idea from their first movie where he jacked off under a black light with florescent paint.
Hot House had a big weekend, too. I ran into them at trade show on Friday morning, at the Castro Gulch while I was hanging with Drew, at the Folsom Fair, and even at the Falcon party on Friday night.
Oh, and before I forget (and before everyone forgets her) I got to meet Mary Carey on Friday, the porn star girl running for governor.
Speaking of the Falcon party, it was big bash for their new two-part release "Drenched", shot in Hawaii, so naturally it was a Hawaiian theme with all the boys in loin cloths.
I flirted with Alex LeMonde, whom I met in Vegas back in January. Flawless abs, and that French accent makes me melt.
Chase Hunter, the star of Drenched, was featured in this movie, as it is his return to the business. Apparently, the only thing preventing him from doing movies all these years was a jealous boyfriend, which he no longer has to contend with.

Dream Team: Stonie

Student cuts off penis and tongue

CELEBRITY SIGHTINGS: My favorite past time in LA is the hunt for celebrities. Besides the porn stars at the event - Jet Set's Tag Ericson, Connor Banks, Wilson Vasquez, Hot House exclusive Dick Wolf, Andrew Adams, Dillon Press, the legendary Jeff Stryker and the soon-to-be legend Zeb Atlas, I saw some non-porn celebs, too. We saw "Swingers" Vince Vaughn at brunch on Saturday, Anna Nicole Smith's former decorator Bobby Trendy and we rode past Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston's house (the gate looks just like Graceland!)

Greetings from California and welcome to a special edition of Porn Star Confidential.
HX magazine's sister company, CMA unveiled it's latest brainchild at the LA Convention Center this past weekend, September 20, 21 for the first ever Gay Erotic Expo in So Cal. The first ever Gay Erotic Expo started in New York last autumn to a crowded Webster Hall. This year, CMA is producing both an LA and the 2nd annual NY event.
The LA event drew a guesstimated 2000 people (an official count wasn't available at press time - it does take time to fly back from LA folks) and featured a number of erotic sponsors and stars making appearances. You can see some great pics of the weekend only in the members area of Cockring.org starting later this week.
You'll see yourself, despite a scathing "review" from a porn industry columnist who wasn't even there, that the event was a lot of fun.
I spent the two days hosting entertainment blocks bringing up stars and sponsors promoting their businesses whatever they may be (and there were a lot)!
Kudos to Rik Jammer http://www.rikjammer.com who showed up from Palm Springs at the Expo for a bit Saturday night (despite getting lost!). There's a trooper!
Rik has finally completed his move from Detroit to Palm Springs and has a line up of appearances this autumn including Man's Country in Chicago and a benefit for Under One Roof in San Francisco. He's just finished making REAR END COLLISON #1: POP A GASKET for (who else?) Raging Stallion http://www.ragingstallion.com which features Steve Cannon and Simon Cox http://www.simoncoxxx.com (who I thought retired but I'm sure glad not!) � he has three "ass-jamming scenes" in which he tops and bottoms and he even was awarded his first box cover. But his appearance at the Expo was pretty hot - first, admittedly he was a little nervous but the minute I got him to strip and he put on a brand new swimsuit from Jocko (or was it N2N?) he loosened up and then spent a couple of hours getting frisky with fans and taking Polaroids with them (courtesy of the Expo �. This is a great op for me to mention my assistant Lambert who generously spent the entire weekend working the music as well as taking freebie Polaroids for our guests.. thanks Lambert!). He had such a great time that he came back around on Sunday and did it all over again except this time he got all fitted up by our new friends at Koala (another maker of underwear and swimwear)� Yum.
Dillon has just finished work for a number of companies including Catalina and Blue Blake.. when I get a complete listing of his credits I'll be sure to run it in this column. With some luck, we're sure to see Dillon at future events as he really loves working with the charity things that I do and has expressed an interest in joining us for future events. The door is wide open Mr. Press. (And for you all just waiting for an icky scandal, yes, it's unfortunately true that Dillon has made some rather unfortunate choices regarding early video work, but he's sincere and passionate about making better choices now. I won't embarrass him by writing much about it but I for one am a supporter after the trio of appearances he's made the past few months).
Despite the tangles and problems, both Rik and Dillon came through and I know I'm grateful - neither of them had to come through on their commitments, after all, we screwed up - but wow, those guys are amazingly professional!!

As with the recent release of THE HOLE, AMERICAN PORN IDOL will be packaged as a "big movie of the year" and will feature a promotional trailer off a API website (that launches in a couple weeks). Tag plays a Simon Cowell type character and Lorenzo is one of the judges (and I'm not talking Paula Abdul here). Connor meanwhile graces his current promotional pictures with a very sexy "le bret" - that's the piercing that one gets between the lip and chin. Turns out that he's not wearing that anymore but if you find piercings sexy (and woof, I do) you can see him with it in his upcoming first release (something about hot athletic fuckholes or something.. I was kind of getting rocky with the Banks man there and not really paying attention to what he was saying).

In a phone call to me this morning, Brett Drysdale, promotions director at Jet Set, said that he was "disappointed by (said columnist's) hearsay article" and that he and the owners of Jet Set (at least one who was present at the Expo) "couldn't have been happier on a fan and business level". They are reporting that they gave away over 1000 free DVD samplers which have trailers for all of their product from more recent times and box covers from all their older stuff. It's sort of like a Jet Set encyclopedia!
Lest you think that the Jet Set people have a skewed vision of the Expo, I stood on the stage and watched the All Worlds (featuring Cameron Fox) and NakedSword/Hot House booths (featuring Hot House exclusive Dick Wolfe) mobbed throughout both days. Jeff Stryker's booth was mobbed, Movie Mountain's booth was mobbed and even better for an activist like myself, the booth where the group CHEST was consistently crowded throughout the weekend.
For those of you who don't know, CHEST is an organization out of New York which studies social and psychological factors that contribute to HIV and AIDS transmissions. The folks from the group came dressed in wacked out drag and consistently had 15 to 20 people filling out surveys throughout both days. On both days I brought the group up to the stage to talk about the surveys and on Sunday they remarked that Saturday had yielded over 500 finished surveys! .. Hoo Ray!!
Other non profits that joined us were LifeBeat, LAShanti http://www.lashanti.org, http://www.Safesexcity.com (more on this next week) and Adult Industry Medical (AIM) http://www.aim.org . CMA gave free booth space to So Cal non profits to make sure that the message of healthy living and erotic condom use is still getting out there! Of course the booths all gave out freebie condoms and Eros was on hand to sell and give away lube.
King of All Porn, Jeff Stryker http://www.jeff-stryker.com gave away copies of his latest song - a bubble gum country ballad called "Pop You in the Pooper" Smooth talker, good looker and great abs (which he cheerfully showed off to the crowd) Jeff showed some real class by donating one of his action figures as a prize� one lanky, stringy haired fan who was clearly all about being as trashy as he could get (and I actually mean that as a compliment) jumped up on stage and volunteered to 'do anything'. Well, we're not too mean at my events so I let him off easy - all he had to do was strip in an erotic fashion and at the end say "suck that dick" Jeff Stryker style! He did it and did it surprisingly well. (and yes we played the "Pooper" song at the Expo - what could be more appropriate?)
Thanks to Jeff and his manager, I now have about a dozen copies of the "Pooper" song to give away at future events.
Also thanks to New York's Martian Entertainment who threw us a dozen copies of the NAKED BOYS SINGING CD to give away as well as four tickets to the San Diego production of the show which opens October 7th.

Hot House and Stryker contributed to a bag donated by AIM which was presented to the stage by newcomer star David Verando. What with two Hot House DVDs, the Jeff CD, the Naked Boys Singing CD and two of the tickets to the San Diego opening of the Naked Boys show, it was a pretty sweet deal and seemed that it should go for more than someone pulling down their pants. In fact someone shouted out an opening bid thus prompting me to start auctioning it off to benefit AIM.
While it didn't get nutty, we did raise a quick $100 for the fine folks over there - and they were way grateful. AIM does great work - testing not only for HIV but for just about everything else as well as alcohol and other drug testing and counseling.
David interrupted the bidding at one point and offered to go to dinner with the highest bidder - "if I take you out, it's McDonalds or Burger King.." he said as he trailed off to which I added "and if you take him out, you can go wherever you'd like!"� It was a happy man who dashed the cash to AIM and everyone had this "wow, that was kind of neat and unexpected look on their face".
As I wrote above, Cameron Fox hung out at the All Worlds booth for hours on end both days and came up on stage to show off his great big cock.. Fox was clever enough to figure out a way around the 'no nudity' law by wearing a sort of short sarong that bunched up with a tie in the middle which covered his cock - and he was bonerific both days especially when he did a little hip swivel action to show off his royal topness - that dong went a dingalinging to the delight of fans throughout the Expo.
Then there was Adam Wilde - a fixture at Vivid and other straight companies. Wilde is an enormous bodybuilder who was modeling a swimsuit Koala which is an underwear company. I did it because I had to include at least one CHICAGO reference! LOL). Anyway, Zeb hasn't got a website yet but I don't think that's going to stop anyone from going to the Buy Gay site and finding his solo/posing videos. Well, the LA Convention Center seems to have a fairly wicked sense of humor and in the other conference hall across the hallway from the Erotic Expo, there was some sort of religious event happening. This would have been odd, strange, kooky enough, but the Sisters decided that they needed to go to Starbucks which was located on the other side past the cafeteria we were at and past the wide open doors to said religious conference.
Like Enoch Snow's children in CAROUSEL, the Sisters trailed each other led by Buffy in shocking pink.. did I mention that three of the four Sisters wear habits? The fourth, an initiate brought up the rear although that wasn't the end of the sight - oh no. Behind them, a friend dressed in leather and behind them a guy with a dyed red Mohawk wearing torn clothes toting a camera. Bringing up the end of this merry band was a 40 something prim and proper white guy dressed from head to toe in black rubber pulling by a chain and collar his "boy" who was a 20 something guy of Asian descent wearing head to toe red rubber.
Strangely no one made a fuss and there was not one peep from the passersby� I guess it is, after all, LA.� LOL
So the rest of us had a lot of fun and people enjoyed themselves. I guess it's just a matter of how you want to see the world. If you want to be bitchy and negative, you'll have a bitchy and negative life. Being involved with the event myself hardly makes me objective, but hell, at least I was actually there so I know what I'm talking about.
Some say that said columnist is simply bitter because CMA didn't bring him in to pull together the entertainment or have him host the event. He certainly has a history of not promoting or covering events that he's not the center of attention for.
I think it might be because CMA rejected his bid to get a freebie booth just to bring in a few porn performers. Everyone else paid to be a sponsor or rent a booth, and they brought stars on top of that.
Apparently his sources are a few fans that were there and grumpy porn stars who felt as though they'd been cheated out of their due - and decided to take it out in trade by slamming the event even though two of them were barely there (and I mean that in all senses of the phrase).
One of the tragedies of the Expo was a problem that we had in the 11th hour with stars' promotions. When I started working with the Expo late last spring, I asked a lot of the stars in So Cal to join us for the event. "Payment" would be in the form of promotion in the program books printed up by Frontiers magazine.
Unfortunately some of the stars became upset a week or so before the books came out when, due to space considerations, some pictures were left off the promotional cards (which was always an "extra" and not part of the original promotional plan) and the program books were delayed. Then, when the program books finally came out, a flurry of emails to yours truly exploding (and rightly so) that there were no website or bio information in them as promised. Of course I had posted all the pictures with bios in numerous columns and on cockring.org but there was understandably an angry contingent of stars who then refused to appear "for free" at the Erotic Expo despite mea culpas from me and offers of additional advertising in the New York Expo program book from the folks at CMA to try to do something because of the gaffe.
You know what? I wasn't in the best of moods at the start of the Expo myself after the icky snafu with the models. I clearly have a vested interest not only from a business standpoint, but many of these guys are my friends. I was upset that a company I work for had, well, screwed up.
But in the end, I made the best of a bad situation and you know what? I got over myself and had fun.. and while said columnist can carp all he wants about the event being a "disaster" after (supposedly) talking to a couple dozen fans, there were about 2000 other fans who seemed to be having a great time. And any way you slice that my dear readers is no disaster at all.
The 2nd annual New York Gay Erotic Expo http://www.gayeroticexpo.com will take place at the Copacabana on Sunday October 12th and Monday October 13th. The event features appearances by Michael Brandon, Bret Wolfe and a cavalcade of stars from around the country including the aforementioned Tag Erickson, and fellow Jet Set Exclusive Seth Hollister. There are moments when I treasure my status as a writer in the gay adult entertainment industry because I get to share those moments with the readers of this column and illuminate the lighter side of gay XXX. Two such moments occurred recently. The first went down on Friday, September 12 when director-star Paul Baressi hijacked a panel on gay porn journalism at the Hollywood convention of the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association by jumping up from his chair, pulling off his shirt and flexing.
The other moment came when director-star Blue Blake was filming a scene for his upcoming flick "The Bouncer." He had gathered $10,000 in $100-dollar bills for a scene in which two models were to screw atop the pile of money. They were indoors, and the plan was to first shower the models (one of whom was newcomer Ben Campezi) with the bills. Cameras were rolling as the money was tossed into the air... at the exact moment "a goddamned wind tunnel" (per Mr. Blake) sucked the money through an open door and out into the yard. "I watched the whole thing in slow motion," Mr. Blake said. "All of these bills just got sucked right through the door and fanned out over the backyard." The horrified cast and crew dropped everything and spent several frantic minutes chasing errant $100-dollar bills as they fluttered in the breeze. Go ahead; take a second or two and picture that scene in your mind's eye.

Apple Promotes Godless Darwinism and Communism
I cannot believe the level of brainwashing here. Dr. Richard Paley, self-proclaimed "scientist" who is also a Christian educator, has produced a Christian Science Fair "...open to homeschoolers and students from area Christian schools grades 1 through 12." He started the Science Fair because, "...proponents of Evolutionism have corrupted this true purpose of science and are instead using it as a propaganda tool to spread Secularism."

1st Place: "My Uncle Is A Man Named Steve (Not A Monkey)"
Cassidy Turnbull (grade 5) presented her uncle, Steve. She also showed photographs of monkeys and invited fairgoers to note the differences between her uncle and the monkeys. She tried to feed her uncle bananas, but he declined to eat them. Cassidy has conclusively shown that her uncle is no monkey.

MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL
1st Place: "Life Doesn't Come From Non-Life"
Patricia Lewis (grade 8) did an experiment to see if life can evolve from non-life. Patricia placed all the non-living ingredients of life - carbon (a charcoal briquet), purified water, and assorted minerals (a multi-vitamin) - into a sealed glass jar. The jar was left undisturbed, being exposed only to sunlight, for three weeks. (Patricia also prayed to God not to do anything miraculous during the course of the experiment, so as not to disqualify the findings.) No life evolved. This shows that life cannot come from non-life through natural processes.
2nd Place: "Women Were Designed For Homemaking"
Jonathan Goode (grade 7) applied findings from many fields of science to support his conclusion that God designed women for homemaking: physics shows that women have a lower center of gravity than men, making them more suited to carrying groceries and laundry baskets; biology shows that women were designed to carry un-born babies in their wombs and to feed born babies milk, making them the natural choice for child rearing; social sciences show that the wages for women workers are lower than for normal workers, meaning that they are unable to work as well and thus earn equal pay; and exegetics shows that God created Eve as a companion for Adam, not as a co-worker.
HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL
1st Place: "Using Prayer To Microevolve Latent Antibiotic Resistance In Bacteria"
Eileen Hyde and Lynda Morgan (grades 10 & 11) did a project showing how the power of prayer can unlock the latent genes in bacteria, allowing them to microevolve antibiotic resistance. Escherichia coli bacteria cultured in agar filled petri dishes were subjected to the antibiotics tetracycline and chlorotetracycline. The bacteria cultures were divided into two groups, one group (A) received prayer while the other (B) didn't. The prayer was as follows: "Dear Lord, please allow the bacteria in Group A to unlock the antibiotic-resistant genes that You saw fit to give them at the time of Creation. Amen." The process was repeated for five generations, with the prayer being given at the start of each generation. In the end, Group A was significantly more resistant than Group B to both antibiotics.
Dr. Paley also wrote a fascinating article called "Evolutionism Propaganda". He goes on a tirade about evolutionism being promoted by PBS, Pokemon, and Apple Computers, "...the truth has finally come out: Apple Computers promote Godless Darwinism and Communism."
I always knew there was something demonic and Stalinist about OSX.

Tadano accepted the role in the film primarily to support himself while going to school, according to Indians general manager Mark Shapiro. The Yokohama Bay Stars, who had talked about making Tadano their first selection, backed off after Japanese newspapers reported about the video. The Bay Stars said that a shoulder injury meant Tadano was not worth the risk of drafting.
After being passed over in Japan, Tadano's involvement in the video also apparently affected his signability by U.S. teams that scout in Japan. Numerous teams including the Twins, Padres and Braves were close to inking him to a deal, only to back off at the last minute.

Tadano was a very highly regarded prospect in Japan but was not selected in the Japanese draft because of his…(ahem) ‘acting’ history. He received between $750-1000 for his role…which he said he was actually straight and did it because he needed money badly.
He must have, because he would have received millions as a high pick in Japan.

Aiming at Pornography to Hit Music Piracy

The recording industry, struggling to curb music piracy, is shining the spotlight on another demon lurking on the Internet: pornography.
The industry is trying to enlist broader public support with a campaign intended to show that its nemesis — the peer-to-peer networks for swapping files like KaZaA and Morpheus — are used not only to trade songs but also pornographic images, including child pornography.
"As a guy in the record industry and as a parent, I am shocked that these services are being used to lure children to stuff that is really ugly," said Andrew Lack, the chief executive of Sony Music Entertainment.
Others ask whether raising this issue is more than a little cynical from an industry that heavily promotes music with sexual and violent themes.
"The entertainment companies have engaged in a deliberate and despicable campaign of lies to smear peer-to-peer technology for political purposes," said Philip S. Corwin, a lobbyist for Sharman Networks, the publisher of KaZaA, the largest file-sharing service. "They are trying to associate us unfairly with the most vile element in society, child pornography."
Pornography has been actively traded through file-sharing services from their start. But the record labels have recently started lending lobbying and logistical support to antipornography and child protection groups that are raising the issue. For example, Dan Klores Communications, which represents Sony Music and other music clients, has been promoting Parents for Megan's Law, a Long Island group involved with preventing child abuse that has been critical of child pornography available through file-sharing services, like KaZaA.
Their efforts are having some result. A bill has been introduced into the House, with the endorsement of the recording industry, that would require children to get parental consent before using sharing software. And on Tuesday, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to look into the connection between file-swapping services and pornography, called by its chairman, Senator Orrin Hatch, a Republican of Utah.
The labels, which blame online piracy for declining music sales, are fighting the downloading services on many fronts. They are trying to make paying for music more attractive through legal downloading services, and in the case of Universal Music Group, the world's largest record company, slashing the price of most its CD's by 30 percent.
They are also trying to turn up the heat on those who continue to download songs without paying for them. This week the Recording Industry Association of America said it was going to start filing hundreds of lawsuits against individuals accused of swapping large numbers of copyrighted songs. The association also is planning to offer an amnesty program that would exempt from prosecution people who destroy all their illegally downloaded songs.
But in perhaps the most extreme sign of the industry's desperation, it is trying to focus the attention of lawmakers and others on how the peer-to-peer, or p2p, services can connect users with a range of ills including computer viruses, software that steals personal information and unwanted pornography.
"P2p stands for piracy to pornography," quipped Mr. Lack.
The file-sharing companies respond that the risk of children seeing pornography inadvertently on their systems is being overstated and that their software is no different from Web browsers and e-mail programs that can be used to find all sorts of material.
Mitch Glazier, the senior vice president for government affairs for the R.I.A.A., says the industry's current calls for parental controls on file-swapping services is not inconsistent with its longstanding defense of the artistic freedom of songwriters.
"We are not trying to stop people from expressing themselves," he said. "We say you should do what we do and give notice and disclosure" as in the labels warning of explicit lyrics on compact disc packages.
The antipornography campaign also puts the music labels in league with the legal pornography industry, which faces some of the same problems from piracy. Titan Media, a San Francisco producer of erotic gay videos, has seen a sharp drop in sales it attributes to file sharing.
"Every movie is traded 10 times the amount it is sold," said Gill Sperlein, Titan's general counsel. Another problem from the file sharing, he said, is that material is available to any user, regardless of age.
"We spend a lot of money and effort trying to make sure our material only gets into the hands of adults," he said.
The bill in the House backed by the music industry — introduced by Representative Joseph R. Pitts, a Republican from Pennsylvania, and Representative Christopher John, a Democrat from Louisiana — would require the file-swapping services to get parental consent before being used by children.
Such a law would face both technological and legal challenges. It envisions a system of "beacons" that parents could place on their computers to prevent the installation of file-sharing software, technology that does not currently exist. Moreover, several of the major file-sharing services are based outside of the United States, making enforcement difficult.
There is no argument that file-sharing services can be used to download pornographic images and videos — both legal and illegal.
A study in March by the General Accounting Office found that KaZaA would be effective for someone looking for child pornography. The agency searched for 12 terms associated with child pornography, such as "incest" and "underage." It did not actually download the files it found, but it determined that 42 percent of them had titles or descriptions associated with pornographic images of children.
A second aspect of its study measured the likelihood a child would inadvertently be exposed to pornography using KaZaA. It examined 157 files downloaded in response to three search terms of interest to children — Britney, Pokémon and Olsen twins. It classified 49 percent of those files as pornographic.
"Our artists' names are being used to lure kids and defraud them into finding pornography," said Mr. Glazier of the R.I.A.A.
The GAO study vastly overstates the likelihood that children searching for popular music will in fact find pornography, according to studies by Public Knowledge, an advocacy group on intellectual property issues.
"We find you don't really accidentally download porn," said Mike Godwin, the group's senior technology counsel.
The file-sharing services say that they are being unfairly singled out and that they are no more a conduit for pornography than e-mail programs, chat rooms, search engines and the Internet itself.
"This has nothing to do with concern about adult material and everything to do with commercial issues," said Alan Morris, executive vice president of Sharman Networks. He said that KaZaA introduced a parental control feature last year that can be used to block searches for pornographic material.
Laura A. Ahearn, the director of Parents for Megan's Law, argues that the file-sharing services are different because their main use is for trading music, an activity that disproportionately appeals to teenagers and young adults.
"KaZaA is just like Joe Camel," she said referring to the cartoon logo that had been used by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Holdings to promote its Camel cigarette brand. "KaZaA has done an incredible job of attracting young people to their site, and as a result they have been really able to attack children."
The available evidence does not show that pornography on file-sharing systems is growing any faster than through other online vehicles. Indeed, the federally financed child pornography tip line run by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children found that 1.3 percent of the reports of Internet child pornography were related to file-sharing services so far this year, down from 2.1 percent last year. Nearly three-quarters of child pornography reported is on Web sites. The Web sites typically charge fees for access while the file-sharing services are free.
Mr. Morris of Sharman Networks, which is incorporated in the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu and managed from Australia, said that most of the pornographic material on file-sharing services was not illegal child pornography but legal material intended for adults. Sharman Networks's affiliate in the United States, Altnet, which tries to profit by selling content through KaZaA, does offer some pornographic material for sale.
"While it may not be what you and I choose to do, adult individuals may share material between themselves the same way adults can watch it on cable television or buy it at airports," Mr. Morris said.
Other distributors of pornography have also embraced the file-sharing networks as a promotional vehicle. They distribute sample pictures and videos in an attempt to attract paying customers to their Web sites.
"The adult industry, like others, is against the illegal downloading of their videos," said Gary Kremen, the chief executive of Sex.com, a directory of sexually explicit Web sites, "but they are much smarter than the music industry. They see p2p as money to be made."

Living here in the New York area is not like living in the middle of West Hollywood - as far as porn stars go. There, you can throw a rock and hit an adult performer any day of the week while here, the number is quite a bit less. However, there are more than you would imagine.
Very few of the New York area stars exist solely on the sex industry alone - there are a bunch of reasons for this: changing tastes of gay men over time, the high cost of living and ultimately boredom of doing any one thing for too long. Most of the guys that are on this side of the country do the sex industry thing as a sideline or as a hobby. Of course I know from personal experience that even in Los Angeles and San Francisco it's rare to find a star of any level who's life solely is paid for by working the sex industry (don't let 'em fool you, everyone does something else other than porn on the side, even the biggest stars of the biz).
Also want to preface this column by saying that there are a number of people (some of them friends) that are not listed because the column ran too long - I was amazed at the number of performers and industry related professionals who live and work in the New York metro area.
