July 30th, 2003 (Hollywood, CA) - It was announced today that Sports & Recreation Video has acquired rights to the first two titles produced by UK-based Millivres Prowler Group's Zipper Video line. The titles, "The White Room" and "Quicksilver," were both directed by Prowler exec Sean Spence, and are the first major gay XXX features produced in the UK since the laws pertaining to gay adult video production were relaxed over two years ago. As part of the deal, MPG has acquired UK rights to Sports & Recreation Video's Open Trench Video line, including the award-winning "Open Trench Vol. 1" and "Open Trench Vol. 2."
Producer/Director Drew Warner stated "I am thrilled to expand my deal with Millivres Prowler in UK with this long-term agreement. Our past relationship, and their enthusiasm towards marketing my projects in the UK, were the building blocks for this extensive package. To have been granted the rights to distribute their first two UK-produced videos in the US is icing on the cake! Both "The White Room" and "Quicksilver" are packed full of hot new British talent and some of the best sex toy play I have seen on the market. Dore Alley Photos
I had a really big weekend. I went to Bad Boys At The Bay (a porn star fundraising event) and Dore Alley (aka Up Your Alley Fair) and I've posted 200 photos from the various events.
At the Bad Boys At The Bay<, the notorious Will Clark produced a live burlesque show to raise money for Magnet Health Center. The event featured porn stars Jason Branch, Spike, Michael Brandon, Bret Wolfe, Bryce Pierce, Jacob Scott, John Truitt, Lex Kyler, Michael Soldier, Rik Jammer, Riley Porter, Tom Sothern, Tony Scalia, Marcus Iron, and Josh Weston. Entertainment was from Irene Soderberg, Heklina, Juanita Moore, Suppository Spelling, and Pepperspray.
Dore Alley is like a mini-Folsom Street Fair. Dore Alley is a bit more low-key (in terms of publicity) than Folsom and allows the locals that otherwise work booths and parties at Folsom to party at Dore.

Lazy Bear Photos
As promised, I have photos from Lazy Bear Weekend, and I think they are pretty damn good if I say so myself!
At first I was a little nervous about passing out flyers and taking photos, but I had a job to do to launch my new site. I swallowed my pride and started passing out stickers with that round Muscle Bear Cub logo and everybody was very receptive. Unfortunately, one of the organizers made me stop passing out stickers because there was a conflict with paid sponsors of the event. I apologized and started taking pictures instead.
God forbid some bear queen someday sees his picture on a porn website, freaks out and causes us to be prevented from taking pictures, too! To be safe though, I always ASK before snapping a picture. Many other photographers don't ask to take a picture because they want it to be candid. You can tell by the face that the subject doesn't know his picture is being taken. Most of the guys this weekend were anxious to see themselves on a website, but shooting in bars and inside private resorts is not the same as shooting on the street.
When Cedar went with us to Bear Weekend the past few years, he was shooting belly shots for our site BellyWorship.com. Nobody ever objected to having their belly photographed, partly because Cedar never shot their face so it was a little more anonymous. I'd rather make sure that the subject knows he's being photographed, not like those hidden camera videos.
Without Cedar, the belly shots were just not as interesting to me, so I decided to shoot the kind of guys that I am interested in - beefy, buffed, hairy and fun. Here's a free movie clip that is pretty much what I'm looking for:

First of all, who is and who is not a porn "star"? This is NOT the old Hollywood contract system with models working on salary. There is not even a current roster of models that appear in porn, whether they are HIV positive or not. They are hired by the day just like migrant farm workers. And besides, what consitutes a "star" as opposed to mere "performer".
Second, there is confidentiality issues in every workplace created for your and my protection that prevents employers from making the HIV status of workers public. A model would have to announce it on their own, but that would severely reduce their marketability, wouldn't it?
Which gets to the question of why Mr. VthickPP is interested in HIV status of porn stars. Does it turn you on to see positive guys having sex? Do you have a list of porn stars that you plan to sleep with? If you're looking to hire some as escorts, it would be better if you asked each of the individuals you plan to hire and go from there. If you want me to make a list for you of who is "safe" for you to hire as an escort and who is not, that's a lot of work, buddy!

A team in Australia led by Graham Giles of The Cancer Council Victoria in Melbourne asked 1079 men with prostate cancer to fill in a questionnaire detailing their sexual habits, and compared their responses with those of 1259 healthy men of the same age. The team concludes that the more men ejaculate between the ages of 20 and 50, the less likely they are to develop prostate cancer.
The protective effect is greatest while men are in their twenties: those who had ejaculated more than five times per week in their twenties, for instance, were one-third less likely to develop aggressive prostate cancer later in life (BJU International, vol 92, p 211).

It started back in May with Michael Lucas and his bombshell at the Grabby Awards, then Matt Sizemore and the whole barebacking controversy, then the gay-for-pay stuff started.
But nothing got blog readers more worked up than discussing the phenomenon known as Mark Dalton. There has been so much buzz generated about a simple question as to whether Mark Dalton likes boys or girls, that Mark Dalton HIMSELF piped in with his own two cents! Commenting on a silly rumor I won't even repeat, Mark's sage advice was:

Traci Lords
The whole controversy surrounding female porn sensation Traci Lords passed me right by in the 1980's because, DUH, I was busy looking at MALE porn at the time. I do recall it was big news in the mainstream press because she had done over 50 movies before anyone found out she was underage. Every video, photograph and magazine containing her image had to be destroyed.
Thank you Traci Lords for causing us in the porn industry to jump through ridiculous hoops everyday to verify everyone's ID, put stupid disclaimers on the beginnings of movies, and insert an ugly first page in front of every porn web site demanding that you be over 18 to enter. Thanks alot, bitch, it's all your fault.
When you tell kids, "Don't enter that web site, you're under 18!" That's an invitation for them to want to enter that site.
Does anybody ever read those disclaimers at the beginnings of movies? Or do we all know the text by heart?
Isn't a little ridiculous to get ID's from guys that appear in "bear" movies or "daddy" movies? Look at these movies and tell me if any of them might possibly be lying about being underage: Bears In Boots, Fantasy Bears,
Bear's Night Out, or Harder Working Daddies.
Do we really need to check ID from guys like Cole Tucker, or Paul Carrigan?
It seems that an audio cassette of a 1985 interview with then 16 year old Traci Lords has been unearthed by Adult Video News on the eve of the release of Traci's new autobiography. How convenient. She Says on Tape Obtained by Adult Video News As a Teen She Had Sex With 500 Men and 200 Women
LOS ANGELES - (July 8, 2003) -- A previously undisclosed taped interview with then 16-year-old porn star Traci Lords has surfaced just days before her tell-all autobiography hits the bookstores, revealing her as "one seriously troubled teenage girl" who had sex with 500 men and 200 women. Obtained by the porn industry trade journal Adult Video News for its AVN.com Website, the interview is the only known recorded conversation in existence with Lords while she was an underage porn star.
Chicago journalist Bob Ellison taped the telephone interview in 1985 with Nora Louise Kuzma, then 16 years old, who was posing at the time as Kristie Nussman and working in the porn industry as Traci Lords. She was the biggest and soon to be the most controversial porn star of the 1980s, who nearly brought down the industry when it was revealed she was well under the legal age of 18 when she started performing. Her autobiography "Underneath It All" to be released nationwide later this week, says publisher HarperCollins, describes a world of "pain and desperation." But the audio interview obtained by AVN reveals a teenager who apparently loved sex and the life she was leading.
"By 1985, after performing in more than 50 adult films and videos, Traci was dubbed one of the hottest sexual performers in porn history," reports AVN. "She also appeared as the centerfold in the September 1984 issue of Penthouse in an issue featuring Vanessa Williams and George Burns on the cover. Traci's secret was she was 16 1/2 years old and nobody but Traci knew the truth." In the often-contradictory interview she claims to be 22, but also says she started acting one year earlier when she was 19.
"Many people in the porn industry will be anxious to see what Traci Lords will choose to present about her past," according to Tim Connelly, Editor and Publisher of AVN. "Traci was known for being a nymphomaniacal woman-child who seemed wise beyond her years while simultaneously suffering from what some called the worst case of arrested development the world of porn had ever seen. She certainly gets tangled up in her own lies in this tape, particularly when it comes to discussing her age, her mother and her investments."

Among the revelations on the tape:
- Ellison asked her, "How many men at this stage in your life, professionally or socially do you think you've slept with?" Lords responded, "I'd say about five hundred," adding that she'd had sex with 200 women.
- Asked about her feeling about the porn industry, she replied: "I get paid for things I enjoy doing." On the other hand, when asked what she did not like about the porn business, she said, "Sometimes I get a lot of jerks as the director. You get on set. They tell you how to f***. They tell you when to scream. And I don't think that's right. I think for the best results, you should just be able to go with what you feel and act how you want to act."
- Asked whether she preferred having sex with men or women, she revealed she liked having sex with men more than with women, but when it was with women she liked them blonde and big breasted.
- When questioned about her personal life, she said she had had five or six boyfriends, each relationship lasting about two months. She said the boy friends stayed around "as long as instant breakfast lasts."
- At one point she said her mother "answers my fan mail," but when asked again about her mother's reaction to her XXX films, she said: "Well, she's not thrilled with it. She doesn't like the movies but whatever makes me happy." She said her mother was an airline stewardess in her 40s who gave birth her to her when she was 16 (which would actually have made her 38 at the time).
- She said she was investing her earnings, which included $1,000 to $1,500 for making an adult film: "I'm buying a condo in Palos Verdes...and, I already own a house in Redondo Beach. And I have a Corvette and I also own a Trans-Am."
AVN.com points out that by the time word got out that Traci was underage for the majority of her career she had performed in more than 70 adult films, videos and loop carriers. Every movie and magazine with Traci Lords appearing in any way had to be recalled and destroyed at an enormous cost to the producers and publishers.
Subsequently, Nora legally changed her name to Traci Elizabeth Lords and has appeared in more than two dozen mainstream films, ranging from John Waters Cry Baby to winning a Best Actress at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. She's also appeared in dozens of TV shows and made for television movies.

George Quaintance Info Needed
A porn scholar friend of mine is conducting research on the life of erotic artist George Quaintance and is seeking information for an upcoming book. Anyone who has enjoyed vintage gay porn will immediately recognize the paintings, if not the style.
George Quaintance (1902-1957) was a pioneer painter and photographer who
excelled at idealized and highly eroticized representations of the male
body. His paintings and illustration are found on the covers and in the
pages of most of the seminal physique and body-building magazines of the
1940s and 1950s, such as Physique Pictorial, Body Beautiful and Demi-Gods.
Quaintance worked for Lon of New York and for Bob Mizer, of LA's Athletic
Model Guild, eventually opening his own studios in Los Angeles and later in
Phoenix, Arizona.
Independent scholars Ken Furtado, of Phoenix and John Waybright, of Luray,
Virginia, are writing the first-ever biography of Quaintance, and are eager

Anti-Catholic 'Sisters' group takes shot at Vice President Cheney
SAN FRANCISCO—Homosexuals were jubilant—and some naked—Sunday, June 29, as they celebrated last week’s Supreme Court ruling overturning Texas’ sodomy law during this city’s 33rd annual “gay pride” parade.
This writer witnessed no attempt by city police to arrest those who were publicly nude, and no attempts to urge revelers to cover their private parts.
The San Francisco "gay" celebration occurred just two days after President George W. Bush visited the city on a campaign stop to raise an estimated $5 million for his 2004 reelection campaign. Bush’s spokesman, Ari Fleisher, side-stepped any serious comment on the high court's Lawrence v. Texas ruling by dismissing it as a state issue during a news conference following the decision.
Newsweek magazine, which ran a post-Lawrence cover story headlined, “Is Gay Marriage Next?,” reported:
Last week the White House — which decided not to file a brief in the case — was taking cover; White House spokesman Ari Fleischer defensively mumbled that gay rights were a matter for the states to decide. Bush's political handlers were fearful of alienating either gay voters or the legion of Christian conservatives who provided Bush with his electoral base in 2000.
Lots of ‘diversity,’ no shame
If Mr. Bush and other Republican leaders had taken a detour on Sunday to Market Street in this "gay" mecca, they might have gotten a glimpse of what lies ahead if their party (or America) fully embraces homosexuality. A float from the anti-Catholic group Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence took political crassness to a new level. The “Sisters”— men in drag who dress like nuns, with some sporting perverted names — paraded with their float titled “Weapons of [A--] Destruction [mocking 'Mass Destruction'].” It contained a rocket with a phallic tip and the name “Cheney” painted on the side, pointing at the bulging rear end of a bent-over figure. A man sat astride the rocket simulating sex acts.
As the twisted “Sisters” float went by, onlookers took delight in the group’s campy display. The same troup that shocks and angers faithful Catholics and organizations like the Catholic League is widely adored by homosexuals and allies in San Francisco. The “Sisters,” with their painted faces and nun's habits, frequently appear at events to raise money for AIDS and other causes.

Hundreds of “Dykes on Bikes” led off the parade, which consisted of more than 180 contingents and lasted nearly four hours (there was a delay due to a fire incident in a building along the parade route). Some of the women celebrated “nipple freedom” by riding completely topless. Other marchers included men wearing nothing but shoes.
If you are trying to picture the spectacle, think of tough-looking lesbians revving their motorcycles for as far as the eye can see. Many of the "butch dykes" rode with their softer, more feminine partner behind them.
After the parade, the sightings that would be considered bizarre in most cities continued. A youth group called Bay Area Young Positives had a bowl of candy on its table to draw passers-by. Inside the bowl, someone had placed a large pink “dildo” (fake penis).
The Bay Area Young Positives says its mission is “to help young people living with HIV/AIDS live longer, happier, healthier, more productive and quality-filled lives.”
Such is life in San Francisco, the most "tolerant" city in America. Where else would you see bus shelter advertisements for a hardcore pornographic homosexual website (based in the city, of course)?
Numbers hype
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the city’s police claimed that up to 750,000 people attended the “pride” parade with its theme, “You’ve Gotta Give Them Hope,” borrowed from a quote by homosexual city supervisor Harvey Milk. (Milk was slain 25 years ago this November along with then-mayor George Moscone by disgruntled supervisor Dan White.) But that estimate appeared to vastly exceed the number of actual attendees, which I estimate, based on pro-life marches I have attended, did not exceed 150,000.
A major difference in this year’s parade was its political emphasis. Hundreds of marchers carried signs that said, “We All Deserve the Freedom to Marry” and “Support AB 205 Domestic Partner Rights” referring to California’s “gay marriage” equivalent bill, which is currently moving through Sacramento’s legislature toward Gov. Gray Davis’ desk.
Other signs said, “We had sodomy for breakfast” and “Sodomize me, it’s legal!” Many waved Texas state flags.
Typical was a man walked down the street with a teeshirt that read, “I [Love] My Penis.” Another teeshirt, sold by a vendor, proclaimed, “We don’t need Justice Kennedy to justify our sodomy.”
Major sponsors and advertisers
Principal sponsors were Anheuser Busch’s “Bud Light” beer, whose trademark red, white and blue logo was changed to rainbow hues for the occasion, and The San Francisco Chronicle, which had this parade slogan: “We come out every day.”
Other sponsors and advertisers included MasterCard, Wells Fargo Bank, Bank of America, Earthlink, Verizon, IBM, United Airlines, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, AAA Travel, Travelocity, and several liquor brands and HIV/AIDS drug manufacturers.
Among “safe sex” promoters were LifeStyles condoms, Elbow Grease personal lubricants, and a "MedicalToys" website, described on its website as “the originator, innovator and largest provider of medical toys, products and apparel for the medical fetish, nurse fetish and the medical BDSM [bondage, discipline, sadism, masochism] scene on the web and mailorder!” The sadistic-oriented “MedicalToys” site sponsored a full page ad in Inside Pride, the “official San Francisco pride guide.”
Youth focus strong
During the parade, a cacophony of revving chopper engines, drums and disco music echoed down Market Street, which was lined with huge rainbow flags rippling in the breeze.
Grand marshals included 15-year-old Marina Gatto, a “gay rights activist” who appeared on last year’s controversial Nickelodeon cable TV special My Family is Different with Rosie O’Donnell.
Many members of C.O.L.A.G.E. (Children of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere) took part. Homosexual couples marched bearing babes in arms, pushing toddlers in strollers, and holding the hands of tots waving rainbow flags.
The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) was there with a large yellow school bus, while dozens of other young people in the "Gay-Straight Alliance" contingent marched bearing signs with the names of several California schools that have such clubs.
Several motorized cable cars rode in the parade, including one representing AFL-CIO’s “Pride at Work” homosexual group.
Other entrants included Starbucks Coffee, Altoids mints, Jewish Family and Children’s Services of San Francisco, Kaiser Permanente, and Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), which sponsored a domestic partners registry at its vendor booth.
The Imperial Court of Outrageous S&M [sadomasochism] and Leather paraded with a black limousine draped with the S&M "leather pride" flag. The S&M flag is symbolized by black, blue and white stripes with a red heart in one corner.
Here come the ‘christians’
“Christian” organizations included Dolores Street Baptist Church, Freedom in Christ Evangelical Church, Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church (a representative pitched the church as being made up “85 percent of fags and dykes”), More Light Presbyterians, and Dignity, a group that claims to be Catholic even as it condones homosexual behavior disapproved by the Vatican. One Dignity marcher wore the S&M flag as a cape. Another of the “Christian” floats had a sign that said “Christian + Gay = OK” with a huge rainbow-colored cross rising at the back.
The San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals featured marchers leading dogs dressed rainbow attire.
Immigration Equality for Permanent Partners members chanted, “Lesbi, Bi, Gay or Straight, let my partner emigrate,” while ACLU marchers chanted, “A-C-L-U, we defend your right to screw.” Other marchers mocked President George W. Bush and John Ashcroft, depicting them wearing striped jail outfits with horns on their heads.
Elected officials plentiful
The official program booklet included a welcome message from embattled California Gov. Davis, who is currently facing a mounting recall effort, that listed his record as a homosexuality advocate. Among accomplishments he cited were:
Enacted the most comprehensive domestic partnership laws in the nation;
Enacted paid family and medical leave that includes domestic partners;
Banned discrimination on the basing [sic] of sexual orientation in housing and employment;
Enacted legislation to protect our schoolchildren from discrimination and harassment;
Ended the statewide ban on adoption by unmarried couples;
Appointed the most inclusive administration in California’s history.
Davis added, “[California is] a bright and shining light to the world not because we fear our differences, but because we embrace them.”
Other officials in the parade included:
San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown;
California Secretary of State Kevin Shelley, who had a sign that said, “Secretary of State . . . proud home of domestic partners registry”;
Lesbian Carole Migden, chairwoman of the California State Board of Equalization;
State Sen. Jackie Speier of San Francisco, who sported a rainbow-feathered boa;
Homosexual Assemblyman Mark Leno, a member of the California legislature’s newly-formed “gay” caucus;
Assemblyman John Laird of Santa Cruz;
San Francisco District Attorney Terence Hallinan and City Attorney Dennis Herrera.
Representing Log Cabin Republicans, a homosexual group, was San Diego District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, elected last November as the United States’ first openly “gay” D.A. Dumanis rode in a convertible with her sex partner, Denise Nelesen, who writes a regular column for The San Diego Union-Tribune.
The parade included San Francisco mayoral candidates Angela Alioto, daughter of former mayor Joseph Alioto, and Jim Reid, who is running as the first openly gay mayor of San Francisco.
The San Francisco Police Department contingent included police officers in full uniform pushing baby strollers. San Francisco Fire Department engines also drove in the parade.
The final float depicted hell. It was decorated with tongues of fire while men dressed as black-winged devils cavorted around it in their leathers.
After the parade ended, street cleaners scrubbed tons of debris off Market Street and crews power-hosed trash from the sidewalks as participants and spectators flooded the vendor and entertainment area surrounding San Francisco City Hall.
There, children of all ages mingled freely with topless women, naked men, and leather and sadomasochism aficionados. This writer observed one lesbian couple changing an infant’s diapers just feet away from another lesbian pair lying on the grass engaging in foreplay.
At another booth featuring “leather” (S&M) implements, a woman wacked a series of other women on the behind with a paddle, after first putting a dog leash on each of the “wackees.”
At the “Stop AIDS” booth, a young man demonstrated how to put a condom on a lifelike model of the male sex organ while telling the crowd, “You know you’re all going to get laid tonight, so take home a condom.”
One observer of the parade wrote on an online Catholic discussion group:
After the parade there were four police officers on bikes at the Civic Center staring at a completely nude man 70 feet away, laughing at him and ignoring his five other amigos who were similarly attired in nothing but their birthday suits as they sauntered through the crowd all afternoon. We wondered what would constitute indecent exposure in the streets of San Francisco [Sunday]?
On a brighter note, Abiding Truth Ministries, working with Family Policy Network, sponsored an airplane towing a banner that said, “Jesus Christ: Hope for Homosexuals.com.” The banner circled the Civic Center area for approximately a half-hour late Sunday afternoon. Concerned Women for America is a national sponsor of the "Hope for Homosexuals" campaign.

FTM - MTF - WTF?
Last night I watched a movie that was part of the Showtime's gay pride line-up called "Soldier's Girl". It was based on a true story about a 21 year soldier who falls in love with a transexual performer at a drag show club. Private Barry Winchell got murdered while asleep in his barracks by another soldier after a drunken 4th of July party.
When real the event happened in 1999, I guess it just slipped under my radar. It was a very complex story involving forbidden love, machismo, Don't Ask Don't Tell, mental illness, and misfits. I was such a perfect story, I only hope it was told accurately.
I put a special effort into watching the actor playing the MTF (male to female transexual) to decide if he was believable. I Tivo'd the "making of" video which followed the movie, so I played a little game of guessing if the actor playing "Calpernia" was a man or a woman. The credits said the part of Calpernia was played by "Lee Pace". Oh great, "Lee" could be male or female, like "It's Pat" from Saturday Night Live!
She showed her bare tits throughout the movie, so I thought it might actually be a big break for a real life MTF actress.
Upon watching the "making of" video, Lee Pace is most definitely a man, baby. (and cute, too!) The tits were a rubber appliance that covered his whole chest. When I saw that, I remembered seeing the boobs puckering like a piece of rubber in one of the sex scenes.
So they fooled me.
Coincidentally, I was also contacted yesterday by a guy named Buck who has a website called Transexual-Man. He's an FTM (female to male) who wants to be a porn star.

Achin' for A Blind Item

He's made the choice to deny, deny, deny. He would have had to make that decision at some point in the competition. Would an "out" contestant have made it to the finals? Other gay performers are not under the spotlight so quickly or intensely at the early part of their career. Did things go too fast for him to properly think about his coming out process?
Should we knowingly nod and wink and just let him have his closeted success? Or should we go out of our way to make him miserable till he comes out?
To compare Clay Aiken to other pop singers, Ricky Martin is still in the closet, and lucky for him he's still got his teenage fans to support him, otherwise he's pretty much off the radar. Barry Manilow pops up every once in a while with some lame "manufactured" news item to keep his name alive. Johnny Mathis has been retired long ago, but still remains in the closet. What's he got to lose now?
Richard Chamberlain, though not a pop singer, waited till he turned 69 to come out. Barry Manilow and Johnny Mathis may finally decide to follow Richard Chamberlain and come out when they've run out of items to keep the public interested. Let's hope they're all giving Clay the right advice.
