Inside Porn Magazine added a new twist to Pornopolooza 5 with the presentation of their inaugural Performer of the Year award to Falcon Lifetime Exclusive Matthew Rush.

The award was presented Friday, May 23 at Circuit nightclub in Chicago during Pornopalooza 5, part of a weekendful of porn-related events coinciding with the Gay Chicago Magazine Grabby Awards and the International Mr. Leather convention.

Inside Porn publisher Drew Warner and Editor J.C. Adams kept the identity of their Performer of the Year a secret until the award was presented live to Matthew Rush moments before he was scheduled to perform on stage.

"Virtually no one knew Matthew was getting the award until that evening," says Warner. "We worked in secret with Falcon and the Pornopalooza organizers to make sure Matthew was going to be in attendance, and kept in the dark. We almost let the cat out of the bag a couple times! But we pulled it off, and Matthew was genuinely surprised.?

Adams notes Matthew Rush was awarded for his video appearances (he shared with Josh Weston a Best Duo Sex Scene Grabby for ?Deep South: The Big and the Easy?), as well as ?for his charity work and for serving as a kind of ?goodwill ambassador? for the gay adult video community. Matthew?s a great guy and absolutely deserves the honor.?

Over one thousand partiers were on hand for Pornopalooza 5 and the Inside Porn Magazine Performer of the Year presentation. Masterbeat?s Brett Henrichsen was the featured DJ; Chicago?s Jumpstart Casting produced the event, now in its fifth year. Among the porn personalities in attendance were: JoeyandCarlo.com?s Joey DiBartolo, director/performer Michael Lucas, directrix Chi Chi LaRue, Falcon?s Marketing and Promotions Coordinator Chuck Ross and publicist Jason Sechrest. Models in attendance included Cornfed Boyz Video?s Matt Faulkner and Nate Bater, Damian Ford, Chris Green, Cal Jackson, Patrick Knight, Brad McGuire, Carlos Morales, Jacob Scott, Jack Simmons, Nick Thomas and GayVN?s 2003 Newcomer of the Year Bret Wolfe.
